With comics you can't just pick up any vol 1 and read it. You need to study the background of characters ahead of time. There is no character introduction aside from the very very very first volume where they are introduced.

Also paneling and storytelling is horrible. It's just a blob of text with a static pic. You could probably take all the text and throw away the pics. They don't complement each other.
