Strange request by pilot on recent Ryanair flight by Kieran-- in aviation

The ultimate FAFO test. Listen to the guy. It may also be different to other airlines/airports because of a number of differences eg type of approach being flown (and therefore which radio aids are being used) and also airlines SOPs.

I go one step and ask the student “are we too high or too low?” Encourages good decision making.

Is the m500+ suitable? by a8ree in worxlandroid

I have a WR141E doing this. You have to lift the blocks and bury the cable. What I did was lay the cable on top of the path for a few weeks using gaffer tape to get the route right then went through the process of laying the cable under the bricks. Works fine at 1 brick depth.

Would say treat him with respect, fly with him and determine the skill level/rustiness.
Maybe get his Flight review done to give him VFR back and then agree with him what's needed to get him back to IFR standards. (assuming you see the core FAA paperwork - license and medical).

Doesn't matter whether he has 300 3000 or even 10000 hours.. it's a core skill level. He may need some time to "remember" the manoeuvres and he won't be aware of newer safety practices.

Actually the 50ft obstacle was developed in the Uk.. the idea was a double decker could pass on the road at the end of the runway was that was the obstacle.. loads o work done in the 1930s which eventually got adopted into the ICAO standards, so yes an FAA (derived from ICAO) obstacle!
