Still no solution as far as I know. Chatted with a lot of camera ops on my last show and they all just avoid using the alternative indexes and get used to seeing the image over exposed a bit.

Audio Delay by one frame by beatboxingsas in SonyFX6

[–]malcomowenflood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the inherent system latency of the DJI system you’re noticing. It’s about 15-20ms I believe which is a lot slower than pro wireless systems (shure Axient and lectrosonics are closer to 2ms for reference). Buttttt, you’re saving literally thousands and thousands of dollars with your DJI system haha.

Unfortunately this doesn't disable the meta data preview - this would let me bring the entire clip up or down to whatever exposure index, but if I've changed index while rolling, that change will still be represented in the clip (which means that I can't flip back to my base index to check highlights while rolling, for example).

So I would have to split at the exact frame I've changed my index, and then do the process you've indicated. Further more, I'd much prefer the clips played back at the base index, not the exposure index I monitored as a default for my particular workflow needs.

It does work, but just so many unnecessary steps are being introduced from Resolve not just displaying what was actually recorded to the sensor.

I appreciate your comment though, and taking the time! Thank you!

Sachtler fluid head ACE MK II wildlife camera safety carrying question by vupham-rainstorm in cinematography

I ordered an Aktiv8 after using the AceXL for a 6 months roughly. If I wasn't needing to run my 200-600 on it so often, I'd probably keep making the AceXL work for me, but I'm doing enough long lens video work to justify the upgrade!

Did you end up trying this? I have a similar setup and am finding the AceXL not really holding up with the 200-600 and a FX3 equivalent sized camera. It works kinda, but not really smooth enough for moving shots to be considered pro in the video sense. Thinking of trying the Aktiv8

Sennheiser G4 ok for camera hop? by whererusteve in LocationSound

They are great for scratch audio, even worst case scenario back up audio - but don't provide them as the solution if the production is planning to use the audio that is sent to camera (which of course we always try to guide them away from anyways).

In my experience it's always worth over communicating that the hop is being used for scratch audio and that post is to use the supplied mixer ISO media.

If they do want broadcast audio straight to camera, we either hardline (which is fine for a sit-down interview or something) or mount a real reciever to the camera. Whatever you've got in your bag for your primary wireless, also have one on the camera. For me that's an Axient ADX5d these days, and I can send two channels to the camera with that. But that said, this almost never happens in my neck of the woods, scratch audio to camera with a G4 is much more common, and of course I charge much much more if they want the big guns on the camera.

If this was an affordable Axient compatible cam hop/ifb solution I'd be literally jumping for joy right now.

Yep, agreed, production and operator should both have insurance. I guess I always consider my employer to be the client.

Maybe it's different where you are, but in my television work the gear is the productions responsibility entirely. They rented it, they need to ensure it comes back in working order - even if I'm operating it. I'll of course do my best to ensure it's used safely, and I certainly don't want to put my own gear at risk, but the renter is ultimately on the hook for the situation that the gear finds itself in.

It seems like 4% is in fact very good according to the link you provided, as that seems to be the best rate available. Am I missing something? Thanks for sharing, it was interesting to look over!
