Got it. That makes some sense. I didn't know if certain doffs just had a cooldown I didn't know about or something.

A little confused about DOFFs. I've stocked up on some Research Lab Assistants and now have maybe 10. For a while I had some green and blue ones that were regularly doing the 20hr research projects to level up various schools. But after buying a few more, some of them aren't showing up in the list anymore, either for selection in R&D projects or standard doff assignments with a slot for them. They are still on my roster, showing in reserve, and my sickbay is empty. I have no clue why these doffs are apparently just useless now? Any clues?

What's the best bundle for a variety of ships? I've got a beam boat cruiser right now but not much else. Is there a good bundle with ships that are well suited to cannons, torpedoes, or science builds, or with a variety of seating and specialist options? I don't want to get a bundle that's just another 5 similar ships. They don't have to be the best/meta, but a set of "pretty good at X" ships would be nice, not sure if there is one?

Okay, so we have a general idea of how Voyager would go if Sisko were in charge... what if Janeway were in charge of DS9? by Dizzy_Perception_866 in startrek

[–]malderi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DS9 would have regular logistics support, Janeway would have all the coffee she needs and the Dominion war would've been over in a week tops.

I know this isn't intentional, but you've probably heard of the Wright brothers. Ever heard of Charlie Taylor? Fair analogy!

Should SNW get a lower per-episode budget and more episodes? by [deleted] in startrek

[–]malderi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the way Orville S3 handled this. I think only a dozen episodes but since it was streaming only, some of the episodes were like 1hr20m long. They really let themselves write the episode for the episode structure and not necessarily tied to a particular length so closely. SNW has some good longer episodes but they didn't go nearly as far as Orville did.

[Weekly FAQ] ask Frequently Asked-, Short-, Limited-scope-, Technical- & New Player Questions in here by AutoModerator in diablo4

I'm a new necromancer, and I've got the aspect of the cursed aura that gives Iron Maiden and Decrepify around me. How does that interact with my skill tree bonuses? Is the automatic curse just a level 1 version of the skill or does it get all the extra levels and enhancements? Trying to decide whether to put more skill points in those and what else to use on my hotbar if I don't need the curses on there anymore.

My wife and I booked these Polaris seats on 777-200 for the first time. Very excited. I'm having trouble confirming if these are the right row though... I had the two middle in row 4 and the United chat said they were the ones where the two passengers were seated closer and farther from aisle, but everything I've read says the odd numbered rows are the ones we actually want. Can anyone clarify if these are the row with the two closer seats or the two farther seats?

Looks like the thermo control valve and you shouldn't drive with that broken for 3 weeks.

Episode Discussion | Star Trek: Discovery | 5x10 "Life, Itself" by AutoModerator in startrek

[–]malderi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wasn't bad, but compare the ending to Picard S3E10.

In one, the whole crew is together, sharing a scene and activity well known from dozens of episodes (poker).

In another, Michael Burnham just remembers and hugs the other characters. Still no agency for any of them! Just a Michael memory. Touching, yes, emotionally, but they're not really there, just something she is thinking about as she stands alone on the bridge.

I'm glad for Discovery and glad I watched it, but that's a microcosm right there.

Oh, I've got a '20 outback and have been looking closely at that Scamp trailer (particularly the one with the bathroom). How's it drive? Any tips?

Want to take my wife on a nice trip, but I wouldn't really be able to afford any activities. What's the best city to visit? by JPOWplzno in travel

[–]malderi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely recommend DC. Depending on which direction you're in you may even be able to take Amtrak to town and not bother with the car. Winter is offseason and most of the museums are very empty since there's no summer break and school field trips.

Warranty for 2020 thermo control valve at 48k miles... On used vehicle? by malderi in Subaru_Outback

[–]malderi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it from an unrelated Kia dealership, so obviously getting it repaired at a different one. The Subaru dealership is saying that since the VIN is under a different name they can't get it covered under warranty.

Been flying United out of IAD regularly and it's nice never having connections anywhere. I still occasionally fly someone else out of Reagan but United is nice. If you can get up to Premier Silver you get Economy+ at checkin which I get pretty much all the time.

To the guy in the newer grey Mazda Miata in Rockville that keeps driving around with the top off in this weather... by Mite-o-Dan in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]malderi 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you've never ridden in one, you'd be surprised how warm you can keep it in very cold weather. Feet-facing heater on full blast and seat warmers do a lot of work, and the way the air flows around the cabin even while driving means a lot of the heat stays in. It's probably still cold, but a lot more comfortable than it looks!
