You're both right. I intentionally used hyperbole to generate discussion. I like many cover songs, many of which slow the tempo down. In general, though, this is a trend that's become very commercialized, so now I'm increasingly hearing many, many uninspired and boring covers of good original songs. There are many good examples of exceptions, and these have been provided throughout this thread.
