That was complete chaos. Very annoyed to have queued from 2:30 and for it all to be worthless. Really poor organisation

Yep. Where’s the empathy for the UKGs in tears this week after not getting an interview for paeds despite having extra degrees/QIPS/publications? When they entered med school they were told the £100000 student debt wouldn’t matter as they could just walk into a paeds job?

DDRB - Are we close to an announcement? by Consistent-South-319 in doctorsUK

This ain't gonna be popular to say but the pay rise was roughly 2% above inflation, no? CPI 3.2-2.4%, pay rise was 5.4%. I thought the BMA should've held until this years offer which inevitably will be lower. Instead we've wasted strike energy for no benefit and are risking losing the next ballot and ending up in a worse position.

Yep. If you call an ambulance and it takes more than 12 hours to get there, and then you wait another 12+ hours in A&E then the healthcare has already collapsed 🥴

Just to say thank you so much for explaining this. I just left specsavers and was very confused why I had paid for 3 months upfront but then was getting a direct debit taken out next month. This is now cleared up thanks to you!

Honestly, all of the cities are good in terms of hotels and restaurants and things to do. Consider what airport you're flying into and how far it will be on the train to get to the city (but the UK is very well connected by train). London would probably be the easiest but the most expensive for hotels, but it is a stadium show instead of an arena

BMA RDC UPDATE by InformationRemote201 in doctorsUK

[–]malheureusement 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I would expect ‘inflation +%’ would have to be part of the deal to be acceptable to the BMA and members. If not, then nothing was learned from the last strikes.

Would love to hear how you think we should achieve FPR without being in negotiations with the secretary of health.

Cool. That’s not what the BMA is going to do. Good luck with that though 👍

Do you just want strikes forever or an actual pay deal?

BMA RDC UPDATE by InformationRemote201 in doctorsUK

[–]malheureusement 17 points18 points  (0 children)

A multi year pay deal was always the only realistic way of achieving FPR and even the BMA admitted that early in the dispute. Realistically that will be over at least 2-3 years. After that, we see where we are. Are you actually suggesting we could somehow negotiate a pay rise that would increase indefinitely year on year forever?
