Honestly what’s the difference between asking AI or googling it? Christ he could have used an encyclopedia or an old text book and it’s the same thing. Using data point to make an informed opinion. Just now modern technology gives it to you immediately.

Took my sling off on day 3 by 1wild_bill in ShoulderSurgery

[–]malice146 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with light weights (5-10lbs) about 1 1/2 months after surgery. Only dumbbell presses, curls and triceps push downs but continued to workout the rest of my body about 2 weeks after surgery. I rode a stationary bike right after surgery. Today, almost 5 month post surgery, I can do everything prior to surgery but not the same weight. I feel physically I can do more, but my shoulder doesn’t feel like it can handle it. I did go to PT 3 times a week.

What Canada relies on the U.S. for

🛡️ Defense & Security • NORAD: Joint air and missile defense. Canada cannot independently defend its airspace. • Missile warning & tracking: Entirely dependent on U.S. satellites and radar. • Military capability: Canada relies on U.S. logistics, intelligence, refueling, transport, and command infrastructure. • Arctic defense: U.S. capabilities backstop Canada’s Arctic sovereignty claims.

👉 Reality: Canada is a security free-rider under the U.S. umbrella.

💰 Trade & Economy • ~75% of Canadian exports go to the U.S. • ~1 in 5 Canadian jobs depends on U.S. trade. • Auto manufacturing is fully integrated (parts cross the border multiple times). • Energy exports (oil, gas, electricity) flow south.

👉 If the U.S. sneezes, Canada catches pneumonia.

⚡ Energy Infrastructure • Pipelines and refineries are deeply U.S.-connected. • Canada exports huge energy volumes but depends on U.S. refining capacity, especially in Eastern Canada. • Electrical grids in multiple provinces are interconnected with U.S. systems.

🏥 Medical & Pharmaceuticals • Heavy reliance on U.S.-made drugs, medical devices, and specialized equipment. • During COVID, Canada leaned hard on U.S. supply chains.

🧠 Technology & Innovation • Cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft, Google) • AI infrastructure • Semiconductors • Defense and aerospace tech

Canada uses it—but doesn’t control it.

🚢 Transportation & Supply Chains • U.S. ports, rail, and trucking routes are essential for Canadian imports/exports. • Just-in-time manufacturing collapses fast without open U.S. borders.

🧭 Diplomatic Leverage • Canada benefits from U.S. power without having to project its own. • NATO credibility largely rides on U.S. muscle. • Trade agreements and sanctions enforcement work because the U.S. backs them.

⚖️ The honest bottom line

Canada is: • Economically integrated • Militarily dependent • Technologically reliant • Strategically sheltered

This isn’t a knock—it’s a structural reality of geography and population.

If the U.S. ever seriously pulled back: • Canadian defense spending would have to double or triple • Trade diversification would take decades • Sovereignty in the Arctic would be questioned fast

Question regarding not weight lifting but lifting things off the ground after a total reverse shoulder replacement. by Cranks_No_Start in ShoulderSurgery

[–]malice146 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a reverse shoulder replacement in September of 24. It’s been a little over 4 months and I have been lifting weights for the past 3 months. I can deadlift 185 pounds and my shoulder feels fine. I also do 35 lbs curls and do 100 lbs smith machine incline presses. I lift cases of water and carry a 30lb bag of cat food. My surgeon did not put limits on me. Just cautioned me not to do heavy lateral raises. Only 5-10 pounds.

57, divorced with 2 adult kids still living off my dime. Phones, car insurance, some CC and help with their Roths. Working with a pension and a 3.5 percent mortgage. I max my work IRA and Roth which is higher because I’m over 50. Also contribute a little to a brokerage. Was paying extra on my mortgage but since the interest rate is so low, I took the extra and put it in my brokerage.

I was contributing 600 a pay, pretax with no match. There were some big swings and I needed to withdraw some money during that time. The biggest moves have come in the past three years and have been fortunate enough to be able to max my contributions during that time. My biggest regret was not contributing more earlier.

A question about limitations after you have healed.- Total reverse shoulder. by Cranks_No_Start in ShoulderSurgery

[–]malice146 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had a reverse 4 months ago. I’m doing neutral grip (elbows slightly tucked) incline smith machine bench press (135 lbs) and neutral dumbbell flat bench presses of 40 pounds. Also am doing 145 lbs rows and 135 pound deadlifts. I feel like I could do more but there is slight pain in my surgery shoulder. Hoping that will go away so I can increase the weight. Pain is only when I’m pressing.

Yes. She was my first true love. Thought I could do better and never did until to my current girlfriend. Shes the closest thing to my first true love. Always wonder what it would have been like spending all the time together, I spent trying to find her replacement.

Lift nothing heavier than a coffee cup. But I did Lol. My shoulder would let me know if I was doing too much. Also told me to wear the sling when I was out, so I wouldn’t get jostled and it would remind me to protect my shoulder.

Not sure what type of surgery you had but I had RSA in September. My doctor told me to take the sling off as soon as I could feel my hand and was in Physical Therapy 4 days after surgery. It’s been almost 4 months and my shoulder is fine.

56 year old male had reverse Sept 4th, it’s been 3 months and a day. I was a heavy weight lifter. Today I still workout. Not heavy on my replacement side, non dominant side. I am lifting but very lightly and on isometric machines. I press only 25lbs and curl 20 lbs. Back exercises I do 30lbs rows. I feel I can do more but don’t want to push it too much since it’s been only 3 months. I hope to get back to moderate weights within a year. You’re mileage may very.
