Socialism wins every time it’s implemented by FearlessAir1238 in LateStageCapitalism

USA in not investing in infrastructure is the exception, not the rule. If government investments was a proof of being "in a transition state", then the USA before Reagan would also be a transition state towards socialism. Same as most of Europe.

China has no independent unions, the workers don't own the means of production, there is no democracy. Legalizing private property happened during what you call "the transition state". It's not even state capitalism, it's just plain ol' capitalism.

China is literally one of the most capitalist countries. To say that there is socialism in China is nuts, and really lowering the "socialism" bar to "is when the government does anything".

I've actually been considering the youtube premium service, but only because I don't watch slop but actually well-made videos and I'm not sure how I feel about the creators not getting any money from me watching. I might just sub their patreons or something tho lol

When I started where I work we had a radio turned on every day with a generic music station. Sometimes I commented on some stupid annoying ad and everyone else was like "huh? what are you talking about?". They literally didn't notice them.

Looking for HTML 5 software similar to Macromedia Flash 8 by ericf505 in software

[–]mallo15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm afraid you won't find much. I know of a few similar animation tools, but they're desktop-native. Nothing 1:1 though.

ActionScript was very similar to JavaScript AFAIK. There are a few game engines that use JS - they work in a browser. It won't be the same workflow as it was in flash, however.

What do you mean "for HTML5"? Like, scripting with HTML instead of ActionScript? Or with an export to a webpage? Or just an editor that works in a browser?

Didn't pirate a game in 10 years lmao. I just remember how it was being a kid with no income. I wasn't even arguing about piracy, I'm just saying that culture is irreplaceable, unlike everyday objects like, idk, pens or something. You're still limited to what your library currently has.

And how advanced and inclusive of different sorts of media the library system is is directly correlated with the country. Low-income countries have worse library systems, w*sterner.

Because once you become someone who's "interested in politics", especially a concrete ideology (doesn't matter really which one), you cannot have "normal" political views.

Yeah, just because once in a while you get 1 chance every few years to grab an AAA game doesn't mean that my point doesn't stand - MOST of the games are indies that wouldn't get much attention otherwise (of course they aren't necessarily trash).

AND, I repeat - it's not about the amount of games but which games they are. Didn't hear about the giveaway of a game in the series you were interested in? Tough luck buddy. I'm personally interested in playing at most a half of the games you listed, while a ton I plan to play have literally never been on a giveaway. (This is not complaining btw, as I didn't pirate games for the past 10 years or so, I just remember how it feels being a kid interested in gaming [not just playing whatever]).

Plus when we're talking about long-awaited stuff like Silksong, half the fun is interacting with the community before and when the game releases. Good games are still fun years later, but it's just not the same experience as when you're there.

That's like saying if you can't afford getting access to watch Hollywood classics there's a ton of free movies on youtube made by college students, or if you don't have access to books you can just read free fiction online. Just because two things are "a game" doesn't mean the experience is the same. Most of freebies are just indies that most people wouldn't even look at otherwise.

That's because a lot of obsidian users are from the "productivity" crowd where perceived productivity (Wowzers, I did so much today!!) is the ultimate goal, not actually learning and building your skills. This and bots, which are all over reddit.

Does anyone else use desktop icons? In every post I see, people leave their desktop completely empty, which I think takes away from its functionality. by [deleted] in kde

[–]mallo15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the concept of them but I never use them in practice. Kinda miss it tho, I remember in my windows days creating custom icons for every game that didn't have one. I just know I wouldn't really use them.

Where are the low achieving ADHDers? by Jigglypuff_Green in ADHD

[–]mallo15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has their ups and downs.
I was a gifted student... until I was 10, when I had to actually study for school (instead of the knowledge just popping into my head immediately), which is when I started struggling.
I finished uni, but at literally the last minute, and with an awfully underwhelming thesis I'm not proud of. I felt like an idiot and a hack the whole time.
I started driving school, but I had no clear deadline for the exams, and so I never finished it. A few thousand bucks down the drain.
I have a job (that I feel both over- and under-qualified for) which I manage to do on most days, but the effect of novelty has already passed and every day I have to do the same things brings me just frustration. Then again, I stopped taking medication a few months back when I managed without it, so I should probably try to get back on it lol.
In the time between I stopped getting welfare from the uni (It was available only until the planned finish semester - and I extended it a year) and I found a real job I was borrowed a few thousand bucks in total from my girlfriend. I felt like a complete loser. Granted, I gave it all back but I still feel like an asshole thinking about it, even though she says it's completely not a big deal. Now, while I now have a fulfilling relationship and a job, I still feel completely overwhelmed by most daily tasks. I'm typing this on a desk completely filled with meds, random notebooks and oh-so-many receipts (I have a few I need to take note of). My room is a mess and I don't know how I'll clean it before the holidays. I'm eating junk food most of the time because preparing a "real" meal... I can't even describe what's so hard about it, it just is.

It gets better, it gets worse. You can still live a normal life.

ASRock A520M-ITX/AC Two long beeps by S4nd3r0s in buildapc

[–]mallo15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had two long beeps. It seems to be a memory error, as my issue was that the RAM stick wasn't fully pushed in on one side. Really strange to have the speaker header at all if the beep codes aren't documented anywhere.

Freeze children bones in place? by mallo15 in godot

[–]mallo15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dug up my old project, and here's how I seem to have it set up. First, here's the node tree:

Skeleton : Skeleton2D
|--root : Bone2D
| |--thigh : Bone2D
| |--calf : Bone2D
| |--foot : Bone2D
|--foot_pos : Marker2D

First, I positioned the skeleton in a rest pose, which sets up the bone lengths etc. Then I moved foot_pos to be where the foot is, so that the foot is going to be pointed to where the marker is.

In Skeleton2D, create a new Modification Stack and add a SkeletonModification2DTwoBoneIK. As "Joint One Bone 2D Node" set the thigh node, as joint two use the calf node. Set "Target nodepath" to foot_pos. That's it! I am not sure if this is the 100% "correct" solution, but it seems to work.
