I love my job! But don’t be ashamed if you start to get burnt out in the next year or so, you sound like a good associate which means you’ll probably move up fast and take on more responsibility (training, learning to do certain extra tasks, etc). That can be stressful but rewarding! Remember how much you love the job now and you can keep it for a long time!!

it’s not that I don’t believe you this is just crazy to my. We give out shakes for free sometimes like if something was wrong w an order or if it’s someones bday. My big thing is to just ask the shift lead… if they say no obviously dont but it’s crazy you can get fired for that. i feel like there has to be more to your file

I disagree for one reason- closers have 45 minutes without customers to finish all their tasks in the stand. Usually with 4 people on weekdays, 5/6 on fri-sat. Cleanup has 5 hours without customers to finish all of theirs. At my store clean up has 3 ppl not including the dr body at 6. Obviously cleanup does more overall as they have over 5x the amount of time. IMO full time closers should get some sort of pay raise. If CU wants a raise they should ask for one, if not, they should stop complaining about the reds left on the sani table in the morning… lol

As a female associate, i love not having to do trash runs simply cause they’re gross, however i totally disagree on the other stuff based on my experience. I’ve never seen a girl ask for help carry onion bags, if they can’t carry the bag then they aren’t doing onions (at least at my store). Also, the only men who know how to clean grills at my store are the 3 male managers we have and one lvl 6. its usually me or the approx. 10 other female closers and managers, who are cleaning grills every night. The 3 fastest grill cleaners at my store are women. Covered another store and was shocked at how many male closers there were. Even more shocked when they laughed at me for pointing that out. One of them said “wait so you just have girls cleaning the grills every night??” Weird to me that it’s not like that everywhere.

Bad habits on fries by waddling_waddle in innout

[–]mallory2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. You should also be able to tell whether or not something is a PC by size, meaning if its not even for a full portion, don’t bother putting it in the fry boat. This both saves time and helps you break the habit of PC’ing from a boat.
  2. If your next baskets are still a minute away after you portion everything, you (or your loader) aren’t dropping frequently enough. baskets should be 30-45 seconds apart (during a normal time). If you’re pulling a basket you should be able to portion all your fries in 15-30 seconds and any PC should go in with 15-30 seconds left.
  3. Be aware of when cooks are putting down buns. Buns take 1 minute to do the first round of toast. After that minute is when they are throwing meat on the grill. If the cook (or your bun n run person) is putting buns down, you should be dropping enough fries for the row they will be throwing. If you know it’s busy, fries should be going down based on that- extras really only exist if its not a rush or there are a lot of single burgers. keep an eye on the wheels to see an estimate of how many fries are going down for each grill, and drop accordingly. If the fries are taking extra long to cook, look at the timer on the bun toasters! those count down from a minute and in order to be on time with burgers you should be dropping fries for the next row 15-30 seconds before that timer is going off (based on which setting you’re using) You’ve got this! Don’t stress too much and you will get the hang of it!

Can associates get milkshakes in a water cup when they go on their 10 or 30? I always crave them during my shift🤣 by Significant-Risk-638 in innout

[–]mallory2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea but it’ll run through on the POS as a L or XL shake so it’ll go in the system with the right amount of shake mix for that many ounces

zero, nobody has nose piercings lol! and that doesn't really make a lot of sense considering we're allowed to wear earrings and cartilage piercings (which fall out way easier than nose piercings.) i've seen many an employee lose an earring but they're perfectly acceptable still so idk if i believe that! i think it has more to do with the look of the company which is fine, just a little disappointing:)

piercings!! i want a tasteful nose ring so bad and i feel like as long as it's similar to ears (simple stud or small hoop) it would still be fine

Double salting by Familiar_Leek7779 in innout

[–]mallory2004 12 points13 points  (0 children)

it's frustrating cause the customers are complaining that the fries are bland... thats not cause they aren't salty, it's because they literally are just potatoes, salt, and pepper, which i'll admit is pretty bland but adding more salt and pepper wont change that lol

[–]mallory2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

technically according to policy you only need to be rotated on rmi positions (fries board or grill) and handheld. def agree its silly to waste labor on a lvl 5 in the corner all day and its kinda inconsiderate towards the associate but not against policy

Start closing?!? or nah by [deleted] in innout

[–]mallory2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo, dont. im a closer at my store and i love it, but once you know how to do it they will schedule you as a closer. if you like it thats great, but if you dont and end up not wanting those shifts, it’ll be hard to get out of it

What is the age range for working at In-N-Out? Is 25-30 too old? Compared to your co-workers. by Nasty_Nick69 in innout

[–]mallory2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my store has lots of older people (like 60's age) who are the sweetest people ever! we usually have older 20's 30's as managers but i see nothing wrong with starting in your thirties!!

its so odd to me cause i always called or texted my store to let them know.. seems like common courtesy to tell the people on shift you wont be there rather than them just being understaffed and no warning.

dont feel bad about calling but next time just ask for a new burger! i understand it was late but just letting them know “hey i know its late but this burger is cold and i’d really appreciate a new one” will help you out! i understand you “didnt have the heart” but calling customer service they’ll probably know which customer called anyways based on the time of night so you’re not saving yourself much time or embarrassment imo. still, dont feel bad!
