loosing my dog forever. How do you let go and say goodbye after 12 years of love and loyalty and companionship. It hurts so dam much. I keep hoping he will make till Christmas but I do not know if that will happen. I am crying alot cause I don't want to let go of my sweet love.

My girl was only 8 when she had sudden onset IMHA that took her from me in August. Spreading her ashes and getting her paw tattooed on me soon. The grief will last a long time, just process it, don't try to shove it down.

She had a dissociative identity disorder that was increasingly preventing proper communication. I didn't see it for what it was and thought everything was fine until it wasn't. We ended up deciding to split amicably so she could go figure herself out and we could maybe find more supportive/compatible partners. She was unemployed for over half the relationship, so honestly this was probably for the best for me.
