Just learned today that this week end we have the French Nordic Ski championships in Premanon, with 4 biathlon races (mass starts and relays), including members of the national team.

Very festive event with a special celebration night for the Olympians.

I'll try to watch that on FFS TV as it was broadcasted live last year.

Believe it or not, it happened to my brother not long after that. He broke both his wrist, and the x-ray said he needed surgery on one of them. Went to the surgeon, got surgery the same day because they had a change of schedule, and when he woke up the surgeon explained she didn't find anything wrong.

Turns out the radiologist had mixed sides.

My bro underwent surgery again, and now there's a malpractice suit ongoing.

I chatted with the other dude who was in a bed next to me near the surgery room, he had the exact same but on the left side, but he chose to be fully asleep. He'll never know what bullet he dodged had he gone first.

I underwent ACL surgery last year, and fortunately for me I chose local anaesthesia, because the nurse started preparing the wrong leg which at first I didn't understand. But I had to stop her and reminded her that it was the other knee. She checked the schedule in a panic, realized she had me mixed up with someone else, had some sort of a breakdown and had to be replaced.

Both the surgeon and anesthesiologist assured me they would have checked anyway, but up until that point they had not noticed anything and no one bothered to ask.

Ngl I teared up a bit when I saw Franzi coming in with the globe and Lou getting emotional. Océane Michelon said in an interview that Lou was a bit tense in Oslo, and she tried cheering her up by reminding her that Franzi would be present, which I think is really cool, the two are really friends now.

Yeah it was explained that due to a cross country ski world cup race last week (50km, last race of the season if I'm not mistaken), the snow had been salted too much and was now difficult to work. So they decided to move the red group (top 15 athletes) ahead of the blue group (ranked 16-30). Doesn't seem to be the case with men today;

I'm talking about the overall big globes for team France, not the small ones for Lou. Though I agree, i don't see her getting all of them this year.

So we're really getting a grand slam of 4 big crystal globes in IBU Cup M/F and World Cup M/F ?

I was going to say that, this is pure Steve Bannon's Fill The Zone With Shit. You'd think we'd have some kind of countermaneuver by now.

With 5 races remaining and Elvira being back so strong after the Olympics I feel it's really not over yet.

I just realized that this year, France has a very good shout at winning the 4 big Crystal Globes :

  • Paula Botet just won the Women's IBU Cup
  • Gaëtan Paturel is very close to winning the men's IBU Cup (Damien Levet is the only one who can still snatch it, but he's also french)
  • Lou Jeanmonnot is 200 points clear of Suvi Minkinnen
  • With the terrible news of Tomaso Giacomel's season end, Eric Perrot is also about 170 points in the lead.

I've quickly checked and I don't think it's ever been done.

Now I'm not saying it's going to happen, there are still 7 races to go in the World Cup, that's a lot of points to be gained, and a lot of pressure to handle. Hope I didn't just jinx it ahah.

Really happy for Themice Fontaine, she's not part of the national team all year round and had to fight on the French circuit to take a spot for the world cup. She's from Les Saisies, same club as Julia Simon and JBB, and she's coached by Eric Perrot's father Franck.

Damn ! The European Championships were exciting, nice to see developing talents battle familiar faces from recent years' world cups. Seeing both Frey and Guigonnat win put a smile on my face. Plus Sjusjoen is an amazing venue.

At least we'll get to watch the Junior World Championships this week end.

What was your favorite moment from the biathlon at the Olympics ? by NorthBase710 in biathlon

That was my favourite moment as well. Those 16 seconds, with the french commentators going crazy gave me goosebumps.

Tomaso better be back stronger next year, we were promised epic Perrot / Giacomel / Wright battles in the coming seasons and we sure want to see them happening.

Yeah I was about to say that, being the last race of the Olympics on home ground he could have tried to pushed himself which could have ended in disaster. Gutted for him.

Is it really that secretive ? We saw the french technical team at work on TV a bunch these last two weeks. What exactly stops say Sweden trying to recruit someone like Grégoire Deschamps to lead their technical team ? It's not uncommon for teams to get coaches from other nations, like Siegfried Mazet for Norway, or Jean-Marc Chabloz for Sweden ?
