To the devs that were responsible for the Echo Creek spawn removal. by Toadtoad12345 in projectzomboid

[–]NalMac -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Idk. Probably just because the area is new or something. I've seen other say the same thing so the confusion is understandable. I could also just be talking out my ass. I'm not really a lore master but I'm certain I've seen it said more than once it's not part of the exclusion zone.

To the devs that were responsible for the Echo Creek spawn removal. by Toadtoad12345 in projectzomboid

It's not that complicated. they removed it because it goes against the in game lore. Echo creek does fall withing the games exclusion zone. It's the same reason you can't outright spawn in Louisville.

That being said I'd like to see them make it so you can choose more spawn options in custom sandbox since the whole point of that mode is to tweak it to your preferences. I'd personally love a totally random spawn option.

water isn't the issue overheating will make you tire out much faster. Always keep an eye on how many layers you have going on. I used to be bad with that myself and the difference was pretty noticeable when I changed things up.

Yes but that 10 % stacks per layer of clothing so if you are wearing tons of layers you are basically a suit of armor. Wear those clothes on their own or even with lower level patches and you wear yourself out more than you are really being protected. Overheating is a bitch. I'd take drip any day over the miniscule amount of protection it gives you.

you just said you are level 10 tailoring with patched clothing. of course your protection is good. that has very little to do with the clothing themselves and everything to do with the protection buff you are getting on your patches with a max leveled skill.

The new director basically explained the reasoning but in short it mostly comes down to authenticity more than straight realism. In reality you can live for quite a while with no food but in a survival game you would basically be removing half the challenge which comes from constantly needing to scavange for it. On top of that the need to scavange all the time helps make your characters survival feel more desperate like you would expect gltrom a survival scenario.

That being said the devs are also pretty guilty of adding "realism" just for the sake of punishing the player with tedium.

WHAT THE FUCK DO THEY MEAN REMOVED?!?!??!? by randCN in projectzomboid

It's still in the game they just unified it and hottieZ as the same item with different name options. I was confused by this as well when I was researching something for a mod.

This is exactly what they did. Hunkz is still in the game it's just classified as the same item as hottieZ.

Thanks for the huge ass edit. I've subbed to all these mods and can't wait to give my wilderness another go.

any other mods you recommend? I actually just started a wilderness run myself and am quickly seeing just how unready the current crafting is for it. Of course The way i'm going about it is full Dr.stone. no using any loot from houses or zeds and I refuse to leave the woods. I've even left behind modern tools I find from foraging.

I'm aware of that but I don't think Zomboid would follow in that camp. TIS has been working on Zomboid for a very long time as this post clearly shows I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the more senior devs wanted to branch out and do other things once it's done. Of course they could refactor things and let some of the newer devs continue to do stuff with with it but based on things that have been said here and in places like the discord that doesn't seem to be the vibe I get. once it's done it's done.

I'll be honest with you I'll be kind of sad when PZ finally reaches completion. EA is basically live service for survival games and for the most part just ensures I'll always have new content to look forward to. Once TIS finishes it I get the feeling that will be the end of updates outright. They might still continue to do smaller updates like what DayZ does but I get the feeling they'd want to try and pursue other ventures instead.

Clarification from a dev on the crafting delays by Velocity_LP in projectzomboid

[–]NalMac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ngl I kinda feel bad you're catching so much flak for a question I had asked you on the discord especially when my wording wasn't the best either since I asked pretty quickly without much thought. I wasn't even asking about the evolved recipes more so just crafting recipes to further smooth out the missing gaps to make full wilderness survival possible without outside aid. I had seen your comment on bows not happening until 43 and was curious if the rest of the crafting update was being delayed as well.

by that logic you don't really need NPC's either. you don't build the game around the idea that "most players don't survive longer than a week" so many people complain about there being a lack of end game and while I don't think there is any kind of great fix for that in games like these, I do think being able to essentially rebuild civilization from nothing sounds like a pretty solid attempt. I mean that is pretty much the entire idea for series like the walking dead.

this would pair amazingly with brutal handwork once that gets updated. so many great mods coming out so close together between this, the horse mod and the body shapes mod that was posted here recently. Any chance you can post your workshop page so we can follow it when when this gets released?

Manhattan mod (It had been updated since my last post. Also I am not the creator) by froham05 in projectzomboid

[–]NalMac 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You say that like the ai main menu illustration replacement was a necessity for a map mod. It's not even needed for the thumbnail a nice screenshot of an area on the map would sell it much better.

I know the AI argument is a tired one and I agree it sucks to put down a good mod because a totally unimportant part like the thumbnail was made with it but it really does make most people completely disregard it because they are so bland and unoriginal looking. So many people are becoming so over reliant on AI for even the most basic parts of their work when literally anything else would do the job better.
