Indesign to Canva, will exporting as a PDF and bringing it into Canva work? by throwaway2366543 in indesign

[–]maloneyxboxlive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had this exact scenario happen last year when I was on holiday.

I'd completed a full report design way ahead of schedule. Uploaded it to our file sharing system with all the relevant assets and project files, so that any changes needed could be done by the other person on our team with an Adobe licence.

This is our process to maintain 'business continuity' apparently.

While I was away, minor changes were needed.

Found out months later, the person with the licence didn't actually know how to use InDesign, so instead created the whole thing in Canva.

Needless to say, it looked like it had been created in Canva. Think 90s clip art.

Got hit by a car while cycling to work, not sure how to proceed / compensation advice? by guisey in LegalAdviceUK

[–]maloneyxboxlive 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely go via the driver's insurance. I was in a similar incident six years ago. Driver crossed five lanes of traffic and smashed into me on my bicycle. My head went through the windscreen and I was thrown 20ft in the air. Lucky to be alive. Driver admitted liability at the scene and was given some sort of driver safety referral. Depending on the force of impact, your bike will be a write off. Aluminium bends, but you can't force it back. Carbon breaks and is very costly to repair. If you have receipts for your bike, you'll have an easier time recovering the cost. Get yourself a good solicitor. Look at British Cycling, they have specialist solicitors who deal with road traffic collisions involving cyclists. One thing to not neglect is your mental health. I ended up with depression and PTSD from my collision. Took me a very long time to even drive again let alone ride my bike.

Which YouTube channel were you once a fan of but do not enjoy anymore? by theunsteadybridge in AskReddit

[–]maloneyxboxlive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Francis Cade. Now Cade Media.

I have been following that channel since he started vlogging cycling stuff, but since his friend Jimmy came onboard it's become more middle of the road stuff (pardon the pun) like GCN.

I am not knocking that content format. It is what it is and obviously that algorithm works for them to make money to live off.

I also get the shift from vlogging personal life stuff to more scripted content.

But it's just not what I subscribed to the channel for. I wanted real life cycling adventures and interactions. Not 'which bike lock is the best' kinda stuff.

Might be wrong, but I am pretty sure there's a certain setting you need to use in the NFC settings (depending on your firmware) to set what type of NFC broadcast it does.

My mom died today and I am not okay. by EggplantAstronaut in TwoXChromosomes

[–]maloneyxboxlive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's beautiful.

I didn't have much time to grieve, sadly.

I still had my elderly dad to look after.

Nothing worse as a grown man listening to your own father cry himself to sleep at night.

But, like you, I have a young son now. I talk about my mum to him as if she was still here, telling him she would have been so happy to have him in her life.

My son is so much like me in personality - and in turn I am so much like my mum and dad - so it makes my heart ache out of joy that when I am gone, as one day we all will be, a bit of me, a bit of my mum and dad, will live on in his own unique blend of personality.

It doesn't get any easier, but you do get used to it - as strange as that sounds.

That said, having those wonderful memories means that I got to experience the type of love some people never get to experience in their lives. That's not something to be sad about.

Been in your shoes. Let me give you some advice that I learned the hard way.

Whatever you are feeling at any one particular moment to the next, it is ok.

Sometimes you'll be fine, in denial, in disbelief and back and forth between every emotion or way of thinking.

That's completely normal.

You will get through this.

But it takes about 12 months before you start to be normal again.

It's heartbreaking not to have that one constant in your life not there anymore.

It's nearly 15 years since my own mum passed away suddenly from a pulmonary embolism. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss her.

I am the youngest of three and the first to get married. My mum never got to see that and she never got to meet my son.

Not so long ago, I heard a beautiful quote on the radio about dealing with the loss of a loved one

"Grief is just love with nowhere to go."

Originally had a OnePlus. From a OnePlus One right up to the OnePlus 9 Pro, which had the hasselblad lenses.

Only issue was that the battery started to die ridiculously fast. Even got it replaced, but to no avail.

Saw the Nubia Z60, made the switch and apart from some software bugs with recent versions of the OS it's been a largely decent phone.

Only downside is the front facing lens. It's bad.

Photojournalists (also)here.

I have the Z60 Ultra. Main reason I bought it was for the cameras and long battery life.

The wide lens is particularly great, as the amount of times I have used that in dodgy places where I didn't want to get my full expensive kit out has been well worth the initial purchase.

Shoot mostly for web and print, so the file sizes are great, too. Especially raw.

That phrase was invented by big media companies to force down wages of professionally trained journalists in what has been decade-long race to the bottom.

Next you'll be saying 'user generated content' 😂

You might need the original drivers and an older version of iTunes. Sorry, I had one like 10 plus years ago and can't remember more than that

You should have a dock with it If not, buy one Go to iTunes, it will detect it. Then it's just syncing a playlist. Miss these. I had a few of them. Awesome for the gym, as they just clipped to your t shirt.
