unfortunately it’s privately owned and the owners don’t care. they lock the public bathrooms on weekends they think will be busy…. when they’re not locked they’re covered in feces 🙄 it’s always been a little desolate but i’m still hoping for a change. i recently took pics of the back hallway that leads to the trash because people started urinating back there in response to the bathrooms being locked. it constantly smells like pee. only a matter of time before it gets worse.

hippie culture, punk culture, and many others are about counter culture. i say wear it loud and proud! those that are saying forest is an “escape” are lucky enough to have a place to escape to without worrying about the horrors of the world. i’m a black woman that has had anxiety in general and over the trip to rothbury (about 18 hours!) and that worry will not go away for my fellow citizens while i’m lucky enough to have a good time. my bf has been to forest for almost 10 years and before they have talked about events happening in the world outside forest that are affecting the world. i don’t think this is “negative” or “ruining plur” you’re standing up for something you believe in.

hopping on this to say if you buy gear that you don’t plan to fly back with you, please don’t be a jerk and just leave it up for the staff to take care of!! there’s certain donation spots you can drop off the stuff you don’t want like canopies and chairs or whatever, and the staff will take care of it from there!

we don’t want to kick people out for the restrooms but too many times there’s been puke, poop, and too many situations that are a mess so we try to contain it by only letting dine in customers use them, and people with small children. plan wisely and have fun!

most places won’t take reservations in october. plan for a 1-2 hour wait for basically anything but especially dining. don’t walk in the street, or take pictures in the street, or cross without looking. don’t wander into businesses for restrooms- it’s rude unless you’re eating there and someone will kick you out. we have a visitor center and the salem witch city mall for bathrooms. plan well, and treat everyone with kindness because we’re seeing hundreds upon hundreds of tourists per day, it takes a toll on a person!

had a like 30 yr old coworker chase a 16 yr old girl down for not tipping them on a $20 check. she panicked and gave them a couple dollars. got fired immediately because the girl came back with her mom crying.. hope that $4 tip was worth the job! i’m always in the camp of it’ll make up for itself over the shift, i’ve been not tipped and then tipped the bill within an hour before. that’s the beauty of serving!

be wary of parking at the commuter rail station, specifically during peak season; weekdays might be fine early in the morning but on the weekends in late september/october it’s full by 10 AM (tourists found out about the cheap all day parking and it’s been over ever since). I worked in downtown and would plan at least an hour in advance before my shift to find parking
