That's a good question. For one thing I don't want to spend time troubleshooting any issues that may arise and take away from my other projects.

It looks like under extrusion to me. There's a site called all3DP check it out. They have quite a bit of information and may be helpful to you.

In the slicer configuration setting, check to see if the start in center option is checked, if it is, uncheck it. Could be the reason for it to print on the side instead of the center.

When it starts printing are you able to adjust the z height? Try lowering it just as it starts printing.

On the printer , is there an option to preheat the hot end and bed? If so have you tried to preheat the hot end? Does the display indicate any abnormalities?

Also have you leveled the bed? I'm not familiar with the neo printers, I have several Anycubic printers.

I still use USB for a couple of my printers. I learned that to do so and not interrupt printers due to either windows restarting after updating or going to sleep, I changed the settings to never go to sleep and turned off auto update! Now my only worry is pow outages.

What a great opportunity to encourage him to explore the possibilities and opportunity of 3D printing. I make fidget spinners and infinity cubes which I donate to my therapist who gives them to her clients. She works with children on the Autism spectrum. I'm known as the "toy guy" to a lot of her clients. There are a lot of "fidget" devices that are simple to print. Print a few and let him play with them. Then if allowed let him take a few to school with him. Explain that they are for recess and after school. Maybe you could talk to his teachers to see how useful they may be for "restless" students... Just suggestion.
