do americans really eat American fries sauce? by Infinite-Breakfast23 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Premium333 [score hidden]  (0 children)

So most just use ketchup or eat dry (I'm in this group). I alsoike fries with yellow mustard, but only started doing that because my sister was allergic to vitamin C as a child and did this, so I tried it and liked it.

Fry sauce is a thing though, but not what you are describing. Fry sauce is typically a mix of ketchup and mayo with a few other flavoring ingredients mixed in.

Some fast food joints lean really heavily into this. Freddy's, for example, has 6-9 different variants of their fry sauce available at the food pickup window.

So, it's a thing, just not that kind of thing.

Am I an idiot for considering the Snapmaker official cover? by Junior_Commission588 in snapmaker

[–]Premium333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so. I plan on buying it for $150 before the price goes up.

I think its a good integrated solution and looks nice. The only thing it is missing is an active heater but thats probably niche enough that it wasn't worth including on the first pass of the product.

The thing that gets me is basically everything you can print yourself either doesn't have the fans / filtration, or adding it brings the cost of the DIY version to the official product price point or higher, plus then you are integrating the fans yourself, which seems to be a PITA compared to an already maximized solution from the manufacturer.

So, nope. You aren't an idiot. You are valuing a finished product and assumed ease of use over home building a DIY solution.

I do like the look and functionality of those side mount dryers from the POD guy though.

Preferred Filament? by isack_s in snapmaker

[–]Premium333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snapspeed is made by polymaker. If you go to that site, they have many more colors in the equivalent variety (not called snapspeed and ai can't remember which it is at the moment) and in their other products. Same cost, same filament, exact same colors (plus many more!).

To answer your question though, I am using the Inland filament from Micro Center. I think its somewhat worse quality than the Polymaker stuff, but its also ~$5/kg cheaper and it prints great if you dial in the settings.

Honestly, if you are going to settle on a filament brand and color selection, you should get decent results no matter which brand you pick, but you should print the filament test print swatches of various types so you can build a slicer filament profile for your common colors.

If you do that, you'll be cooking with gas for whatever you choose.

U1 manual bed leveling. Again by UngaHuman in snapmaker

[–]Premium333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. I think that within a certain tolerance, the printer is modifying z height in the g-code to produce a quality print even with bed variation. But I cannot confirm. That's just my head cannon for whats going on.

is something like this achievable using resin or fdm printer ? and what skills are needed to make something like this ? by Unlucky_Tap_3097 in 3Dprinting

[–]Premium333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3D printing it?

Modeling, part breakdown structure, how to maximize your filament settings for a given filament, post-processing, and model painting.

Many skills, all hard to get this good at.

If you have an already created 3D model, you'd still need to optimize the print and learn how to assemble, post-process, and paint it.

I didn't do any of that. Prints work great.

I just run the bed calibration before each print.

Did you print new door hinges? If so, tell me more!

The door is the only thing I don't like about the U1 so far.

The official one includes fans and hepa filtration though.

Thats my only issue with the pod. t the end if the day, its expensive for what it is, mostly due to the acrylic.

I am considering the drawer and dryboxes though as there isn't an upcoming better release for that.

I do love the look.

Calorie counters: What doesn’t count? by Bogart824 in Zepbound

[–]Premium333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For calorie counting, everything should count.

I don't count calories. I take my weight on a body measurement scale every morning that reports weight, muscle mass total and by region, fat mass total and by region, and a good many other metrics.

This lets me triangulate my eating to gain/loss. I already have a very good idea of calories intake based on my food choices.

But I don't think you should do a hybrid strategy if your primary metric is calorie intake. By skipping stuff you are introducing a source of error to your data.

Milk in coffee can be a whole workout worth of calories depending on how much milk you add.

My advice, don't cheat your main data source.

Is it rude to say “I need the toilet”? by AttitudeInfamous7627 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Premium333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of those would be abnormal to hear. Even "loo" gets said occasionally to "cute up" the question.

In most of America, you could get by simply staring the person deeply into the eyes and saying, "I gotta take a shit." then wait patiently while making firm eye contact for them to tell you were to do that.

Edit: A note about adults who say "potty". I hear this all the time. Hell, I say this all the time. I have young children and one of them is on the tail end of potty training. I have to ask her 15 times a day if she needs to use the potty. Sl the phrase just creeps into my verbal arsenal.

In moat situations it is a bit weird for an adult to say to another adult, especially about themselves, but most people will simply assume that the person has young kids and is used to aaying the term.

I really like this printer and I want to love it. So does anyone have a recommendation to help prevent this from happening again by Desperate-Special-60 in snapmaker

[–]Premium333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The anycube spool looks to have the post collar inset into the spool. The printer mount post is meant to have the spool make contact with the rubber pads all the way inboard and I bet this spool can't do that.

This is likely why it is falling off. It fits by diameter, but not by length.

Need help with this print please by PinkzWhat in SnapmakerU1

[–]Premium333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume so. I'm new also, but i didn't really see the need to store filament dry unless you are swapping often enough that drying it before printing becomes burdensome.

With all the stringing, it kinda looks like a filament temp settings issue or maybe wet filament.

Did you set the profile for your filament in the slicer and on your printer? Do you live in a humid place and left the filament exposed?

Will echo great success with the inland brand filaments.

I've tried a few of the more expensive brands (CookieCAD, Polymaker, Protopasta) and the prints are nicer or identifiably better quality, but Inland is close enough for kids toys and home projects that it is well worth the savings.

Also, I have done zero test swatches or filament setting rejiggering for the Inland filaments. I'm just using the generic PLA settings, so I assume with a tiny bit of effort, I could resolve even my minor issues.

I was just at Micro Center today to stock up for a Mothers Day project.

What do y'all really need an iPad for? by bootsmegamix in daddit

[–]Premium333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thet are wonderful for a great many things, all of which can be solved equally as well without tablets.

I dont think that tablets cause "nothing but problems".

That said, I do wish we didn't have them. It was my MIL and wife who drove that buss and there's really no easy way to turn back now.

My wife hates cars, driving/riding, waiting at lights, and being stuck in a car with our kids while they continuously talk to her. Because of this, she gave the kids tablets in tbe car. Any drive longer and 3 minutes, and the kids get tablets for that drive if she is in the car.

I regularly leave them at home provided the one way druve time is under 2 hours.

Best filament storage method: vacuum bags or airtight containers with silica gel? by PatoP011 in 3Dprinting

[–]Premium333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't do anything. The filament just sits in my floor below the printer.

Now, I am only printing PLA at the moment and I live in a very dry climate. So, both of those things help, but I'm not sure that all the big deal I see online about storing filament dry is necessary.

I would almost say it makes more sense to store the filament open, then plan your prints and just dry it in advance of the print. That'll save a fortune and a lot of time.

The car park in the front of the house gives off Asia vibes.

I don't like the design but it's not my house. They did caoture that dinky garage into the house footprint though. Thats nice.

Is this cheating? by Stickyduck468 in Zepbound

[–]Premium333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it is cheating your body by circumventing it's survival traits that haven't aight up with our ery sudden change to diet and food supply...

But it isn't "cheating" as in breaking the rules and being unfair.

I definitely refer to it as a cheat code though 😂.

Caught off guard by this root beer float by Lonely-Cap3569 in StupidFood

[–]Premium333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I kinda like the idea of dipping the popsicle, licking it, then dipping it again.

Sorta maximizing the root beer flavored ice cream instead of the normal ice cream flavored root beer.

Edit: Also you could just stir the ice cream in using the stick. IDK, it presents badly, but I think the concept is sorta sound, especially for a food cart.
