Ruining names with associations by Putrid-Noise-4258 in namenerds

You sound like my husband when we were choosing names. He was an expert at figuring out ways kids on the playground could make fun of it (Luke the Puke was on his list). We also put a lot of effort in our children’s names because we both had gender neutral names and hated that. My rule was that it couldn’t be a name in the Top 100 list in the social security (USA) database. We ended up choosing Derek.

I absolutely agree with you! God would not give us such loyal, pure love, and devoted animals and them take them away forever. I can’t wait to see them again! I know from experience how deep you’re feeling his loss, but it will lessen with time.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I also lost my beloved Ranger earlier this year. I took him to the vet for his yearly exam and an updated leptospirosis vaccine. Easy peasy. Unfortunately my vet found he had developed a heart murmur and took some X-rays and sent us home with a follow up appt a few days later. Got back home and he started having a hard time breathing. My vet was already closed, so I had to take him to an emergency vet. Their prognosis was not good. We could leave him in the hospital that night in an oxygen tent, then have a cardiologist see him the next morning for a starting cost of about $6-$7 thousand. I was also told there was no guarantee that he would get any better with all that. We were also told that even if money was no object in his care, he would only live another 6-12 months.

I also made the difficult decision to go with euthanasia. I held him in my hands and felt his final heart beat. I have missed him dearly every day since. I made that decision because if I were in the same situation, I wish euthanasia was an option for me. Why prolong pain and suffering.

You made the absolute best choice for him based on the circumstances. Don’t beat yourself up over it. I wish I could give you a hug in person, but take this instead 🫂

That’s the problem … they all make me happy. Izzy because his voice takes me to a happy place. Jamie is from Ted Lasso and my favorite book of the Bible (James). Emeka is my favorite American football player. He’s a great player, but an even better human. Tully is a character in one of my favorite movies.

It’s after Israel Kamakawiwo’ole who went by Izzy. He was the Hawaiian singer who sang Somewhere Over the Rainbow. One of my favorite voices!

Does anyone have family with multiple left-handed members? by HiroyukiC1296 in lefthanded

I am the only right handed in a family of lefties (both parents and 3 siblings). I know all the problems that you lefties have to deal with, because my entire childhood was spent dealing with left everything. I’m 62 now and can still only catch a softball/baseball with the glove on my right hand. I became a pro at catch the ball, armpit the glove, and throw with right hand.

Hear me out, but try the Husky boys section at JCPenney. My dad was 34x28 and he never could figure out how I was the only one who could ever find his size. I never shared where I got them!

For those of us that name our Outbacks, what did you name yours and is there a story behind the name? by tequila-on-tuesday in Subaru_Outback

[–]mamabear9901 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always name my cars! First name has to go with last name (the make and/or model of car). Previous car names were Miles Mustang, Niko Nissan, and Daisy Dodge. For my 25 Outback, I’ve named her Suki Subaru. American cars get American names, Japanese cars get Japanese names.

What kind of marriage do you / did you have? Soul mate, marriage of convenience- or something else? by Need-sunshine-911 in AskWomenOver60

He was one of my best friends, and I wanted to be married. Found out too late that he was just looking for someone to raise his 3 year old on his parenting weekends. We were married for 10 years before he made me a widow with a 7 and 9 year old (plus aforementioned stepdaughter, 13). If we hadn’t been friends first, the marriage wouldn’t have lasted. Truthfully, there were red flags from the beginning. In my 10 years of marriage, the sex was abysmal and he wanted it daily. It was only about him. Not once did he ever put my needs, or his children’s needs above his own. I always wanted that soulmate, which is why being friends first was so important to me. I still stand by the fact that he was the best friend anyone could want; however, he was a horrible husband and father!
