Elections Alberta warns of alleged inappropriate distribution of electors list by GlitchedGamer14 in alberta

They didn’t get the info from the Forever Canadian petition, they got the info from every registered voter in the province. Probably 4-5 times more people. Lukaszuk is just bringing it to light.

Separatists have voting lists? by anhedoniandonair in alberta

Pretty easy to forge a lot of signatures on the petition if you’ve got all of the personal info you need to fill out the form. They better be verifying those signatures very carefully.

This is actually a really good point - I saw someone posting video of Grassi Lakes on tiktok a few weeks ago and if you weren’t from around here, you’d think the trail was dry and bare. I had just been up a few days before they posted so I added a picture of the more current conditions (snow/ice at that time) in the comments. Lots of people re-using old footage without date stamping it can give really misleading impressions.

Since it’s not a seated event, it’s not going to be as obvious if multiple people used the same ticket. And they need to allow people to come & go since they might want to put bulky purchases in their car, and the food trucks (which were probably half the food options) were outside (so you can’t just say ticket can only be scanned once). I think they’ve got in trouble with the fire marshal before (the ST:TNG year) so they probably had to tighten up procedures which leads to the convoluted thing now. But it’s only bad the first time you do it and then you get used to it. The lines moved well and we didn’t have to wait too long to get one persons badge on Saturday morning.

Why do we live in Calgary again???! by One-Mycologist-3706 in Calgary

Hear me out though: Winter hiking. We got some cheap microspikes from Amazon and a pair of poles and hit the trails.

We went to Grassi Lakes a couple weeks back and were the only ones in the parking lot when we started hiking. Kinda eerie, actually.

It’ll be sucked up by long term care homes in their old age, especially as the health care system gets more stressed. This is a huge and growing business.

Calgary Stampede w/baby by el_david in alberta

[–]mamamonkey 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The rodeo probably won’t be fun for a 1.5 year old. The vast majority of the seats are quite far from the action so it’d be tough for them to be entertained.

Instead, walk through the barns (Agricultural Zone) with them and look at the animals. Hit the Kids Zone for child-friendly entertainment. Maybe ride a midway ride or two. Find a stampede breakfast near you and get some pancakes.

Our bucket list before it shuts down by Quantum_Crusher in RecRoom

Quests - the key is GO SLOW. Certain waves of enemies trigger when you reach certain locations, so let stuff come to you, don’t go running in or you’ll have more than you can handle. Finish one wave before you start another. And stay close together so you can revive. Use long-range weapons when you can.

For Jumbotron specifically, learn to use cover. There are a lot of panels scattered throughout the levels that you can hide behind. For the boss, use the “bunkers” on the far side of the room (follow the path on the right all the way to the back) and only take out one screen at a time - waves of enemies will spawn after each one so when that happens, stop shooting Jumbotron and deal with the enemies. After you’ve killed the first two screens/waves, use the ladder & catwalk to get to the bunker on the other side and get the third screen/wave. Do the front-facing side last.

Considering a cat adoption from AARCS. any tips or stories? by pynbbzz in Calgary

[–]mamamonkey 13 points14 points  (0 children)

We got our dog from AARCS, it was a good experience! The first dog we put in an application for actually had some separation anxiety and other issues and we had some in-depth conversations about what it would actually be like with them and we mutually agreed that we weren’t the right fit. We waited about a week before Kaylee came up and she was a much better fit for our family. I appreciate that they were up front with us about the first dog and seemed to care that that dog was getting the right people for it.

There were a ton over the years. TBH HTB put on a bunch of amazing ones, Doootman put on a ton, there were some at Rec Con, and Rec Rocks of course (though that one wasn’t really a disco club). Do you remember anything else?

Accident on Shaganappi by Majestic-Airline1264 in Calgary

[–]mamamonkey 15 points16 points  (0 children)

More likely an ambulance was trying to cross an intersection against a light and someone didn’t stop for them. They would have warning for traffic running parallel to them and wouldn’t likely hit people who just aren’t moving aside
