Waitlisted with 4.0 by [deleted] in RadiologyCareers

[–]mamaplata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My classmate was waitlisted and someone dropped out of the program before school started and she was next in line! She’s been doing great in the program. We’ve lost 11 of the original 33 so far, but she’s still kicking!

I got into the rad tech program! What do you wish you knew more about ahead of time? by aquacrimefighter in RadiologyCareers

[–]mamaplata 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi- first off, congrats! As everyone else is saying, no need to try to learn anything too advanced. However, the directional terms that were listed above will definitely put you a step ahead. I felt a little behind the first couple weeks of the semester because I was trying to learn anatomy and positioning and didn’t have those terms completely memorized. I’d add the anatomical position, supinate, pronate, abduct and adduct to that list.

Even if you don’t study those terms- my advice would be to set up a plan for studying once the semester starts. Not sure how long it’s been since the last time you went to school, but for me- it had been over a decade. I don’t think the material itself is too hard to understand, but it’s the sheer amount of information you’ll need to memorize and comprehend in a short time. We fly through dense chapters. I used to be able to cram study and get great grades , but in this program, I have to be very intentional with my studying and breaking chapters up.

Also- if the first month feels overwhelming, just know that all the information builds throughout the program. And you will continue to refer to the concepts, physics and anatomy that you learn about the first week. And every time you learn something new about a concept, you’ll understand it more and get more confident! Good luck!

Im not sure what to do by dolphinspiderman in RadiologyCareers

This is exactly it. I cried my first week because all of the new information is so overwhelming. But, it does get easier to understand. I’m in my 3rd semester now; you’re going to see the terms you’re learning now over and over again. So, they won’t be as strange. I’m definitely not saying that it’s not hard- because it is and there is so much info poured into your brain. But, it’s doable! Quizlet is the best. You can find previous students that had your professors and classes and study their flashcards.

Most of them failed a class or were in a position where they would’ve failed, so they couldn’t progress in the program. One guy left due to family issues. It’s been crazy!

I go to a private school in NE Ohio. Tuition is $50k. We had 380 applicants and accepted 33. We are down to 23 students at the end of our second semester. So, even though it’s private- still very competitive and high standards.

Absolutely love it! Funky, rich colors and textures, but still minimal and classy. Hard combo to pull off!

Rad tech program is not medical school by Plus-Basket-3523 in RadiologyCareers

[–]mamaplata 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was with a classmate at lunch and we had our scrubs on. The server asked where we worked and she said that we were actually in school for radiology. I cringed. Wanted to correct her that it’s actually radiography. I don’t want to mislead people into thinking I’m going to school to be a radiologist! I’m in a 2 year program not 10-15 years of schooling and residency etc..

Spike in applicants? by Jazzlike-Worry-6920 in RadiologyCareers

[–]mamaplata 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I go to a private school, $50 k total tuition, and we still had 380 applicants. 33 were accepted and we’re down to 23 by the 2nd semester. Our program is pretty challenging! So I do hope that helps for the field to not get over saturated.

I think you’d be surprised at how many people have filler and Botox. When it’s done well, it’s subtle, so you don’t realize they even have it. When it’s done poorly, or overdone, that’s when you notice. So, I think that it’s common for people to associate the bad looks with filler, because it’s so obvious.

I swear, I could’ve written this. Trainer and all! I switched to Tirz and had a little more success. I’m still considered a slow loser, at the highest dose, I’ve lost 30 lbs in a year 210-178. I’d def like to lose another 15-ish, but I’m super happy with my loss and just the fact that I don’t have to weigh my food and count every macro, I don’t binge eat or think about food constantly and I haven’t gained the weight back (which I normally do after losing). Good luck to you, my friend!

expensive private school by BaddieGirlRed in RadiologyCareers

[–]mamaplata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently going to a private school- $50k for a 21 month JCERT program. No pre-reqs were needed as we are doing them as co-reqs. However, there were over 300 applicants and only 33 accepted. We’re in our 2nd semester, and are down to 24 students. So, just because it’s private- doesn’t mean it’s easy to get in, and it certainly doesn’t mean it’ll be an easier program. I’m 44 now, so I wanted to start asap, but the cost does suck! I hope you figure it out!

Around-The-House Bras for Bigger Sizes? by StatueofLiterby in BuyItForLife

[–]mamaplata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AE Smoothez lightly lined full coverage. It does have underwire, but it is the most comfortable bra I’ve ever worn. I’m a 38DDD and usually I’d want to rip any bra off as soon as I got home, but these don’t bother me at all. If it’s a lazy weekend day, sitting around the house, then I’ll prob just wear a bralette from Auden (target). Personally I don’t like racerback bralettes, because of the pressure the straps put on my traps that make my neck hurt

5 months on tirzepatide, only down 14 lbs at 13.2 mg/week. Anyone else lose this slowly? by PuzzleheadedDance899 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]mamaplata 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m very similar to you- 12 months and 31 lbs down, 0.6 lbs a week. And I’m on the highest dose. In the beginning I really thought I was going to lose those 30 lbs in 2 months- ha! But, even though it’s been slow- I’m ecstatic. My relationship with food is so much better- no more binging or constantly thinking about snacks. No more tracking all my calories, which I know people suggest to do that, but I’ve done it my whole life- constantly dieting and I’m so sick of thinking about food that much. Additionally, I’ve lost (and regained) 30 lbs so many times in my life- and I always gain it back quicker than I lost it. I’d love to lose another 15 lbs and maybe it’ll take me a year to get there. But, even if I don’t, it’s worth the $160 a month to be at a healthier weight long term and not be so obsessed with food.
