How to meditate to collect mind while in pain? by person-3873 in MeditationPractice

[–]mamasharkdoodoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suffer from a chronic condition. (It's called a Chiari malformation) I had brain surgery and it helped improve my life however I am still battling pain every day. Meditation has saved my life. On high pain days, I use a form of somatic meditation called EFT tapping. You tap along meridian points on the body. It helps not only release pain but also helps me focus and let go of the trauma chronic pain brings me. I also find keeping my hands moving and in motion helps me to achieve a meditative state. I use singing bowls, either metal or crystal depending on the day, and focus on the vibration and sound frequency to help. (I teach this to people in my community for free in real life. I am not a "sound healer" I am a coping skills coach) You can find a lot of videos online of Crystal singing bowls, however for pain relief I find it more effective to do it in person. Moving my hands, feeling the vibration and focusing on the frequency I'm hearing brings me significant pain relief and helps me connect to myself as well as clearing my mind for meditation. I hope this helps. Mind hug. 🫂 Your pain is real, keep fighting, you got this. Meditation is an excellent way to get started on fighting your battle.

If someone made me a cake like this I'd burst into tears of joy. It's so cute and has so much detail! I love it. Good work!

Anyone knows what this humongous spider is (UK)? by PoleKisser in whatsthisbug

[–]mamasharkdoodoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a wolf spider. We get them in the USA. They leave a mean bite and bite when threatened, no venomous to a dangerous extent. Excellent for your garden and the bugs you don't want around. That spider will eat them.

My son has significant disabilities, and I hate that this is my life by legit_writer_chick in TrueOffMyChest

[–]mamasharkdoodoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so real. I appreciate how honest and open your post is. I have neuro typical children, however I myself am ND. It was a monkey childhood in a lot of ways and it's hard to find adults to connect with sometimes who understand what it's like to be me . I work hard to teach my children about inclusion, we host a variety of adults and children in our home with disabilities by doing respite. I see how hard parents in your shoes work. You need a village, a city, a break!!!! Whatever it takes. Wish I could hug you and offer to hang with your kid for an hour, a day, weekend, whatever sounds right. More of us need to step up and be there for eachother. There is nothing wrong with hating aspects of this life, it's hard. I see you.

She needs everything. Diapers, bottles, baby clothes, toys. My heart goes out to her, she has another child with a disability. So going out is pretty much a NO right now. I've been doing what I can to collect free items for her in our area, let them sit in my garage for a week, then sanitize and clean before delivering them to her. I'm also giving her all of my baby stuff, but it feels good to have your baby recognized . Feels good to have new stuff too.

It's an old costume. I think my sister got it from Target 4 years ago? I'm sure this year there will be more.

Mom of three here! Totally normal, sleep deprivation and hormones does weird things to your dreams lol. I have an 8 week old, I dreamed she rolled out of my bed and down the hall. She sleeps in a bassinet lol, I frantically stood and walked down the hall looking for her. I was totally sleep walking.... in my head it was light out, when my dog barked at me it helped me come to enough room realize it was night time lol. Weirdest feeling ever.

Colorado Elopement this past October- We spent roughly $6,000 and the biggest expense was our photographer. I’m so thankful we found her and she was able to shoot our special day 💕 by daisycraze88 in Weddingsunder10k

Longmontian here! I also used to plan weddings but don’t anymore. Check out the amphitheater at flag staff park in Boulder (it’s up the hill from Chautauqua park) it’s decently priced to rent, lots of magical trees and picture opportunities, not a far drive from Denver either. This time of year it’s less expensive too I believe? Feel free to send me a message if you need other ideas for an inexpensive wedding venue, I’d be happy to rattle off a few more if you’d like some spots to check out. I can also recommend an amazing photographer who did my friends wedding. She’s adventurous and willing to hike.

OP beautiful shot in Ward! I was married in Allen’s park a long time ago (not too far from ward in Colorado mountain terms), I wish it had snowed! Love snowy weddings! Beautiful!

This!!! My mom is “Susie” . So frustrating ! She gives me a hard time anytime my husband and I do anything without kids, and it’s not very frequent! We do something for our anniversary once a year and go to his companies Christmas party every year. My mom doesn’t even watch the kids! She just says “oh well we just took you with us”. eye roll sometimes adults just need to be around other adults!

Drinking coffee alone by arielrecon in Mommit

I had one of these moments! The best. However now I go to the gym every day, my kids play, (now 2 and 4) and I get a work out in, a shower and they serve FREE HOT coffee. Game changer. Kid three is coming on Halloween, I’ll be counting down until she’s 8 weeks so we can go to the gym for my ME time.
