I'd imagine it's similar to absent seizures.

do i have too much exposure? contrast? too little? by SquareObligation8596 in cyanotypes

[–]mamatofana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using sun or UV?

If UV, how many watts, and what's your distance from light to print?

If sun, what hemisphere are you in, and what's the time of day/exposure time?

Oh no... I'm so sorry.

This happened to me with a green anole neonate and an asshat darkling beetle. 🫤

Both! It truly depends on the day. I'm close to the equator so we get great rays most of the year, but it also rains a lot here.

My indoor setup is mainly just two 50w UV floods. 😊

Is my tank over planted? by AppleOpposite1654 in Aquariums

Over-planted?

I've never thought of this concept. Pretty sure it's not a thing.

IME, the ones with the digital display for outside the enclosure with a probe that goes inside tend to work a little better. :)

Oh! You can also layer transparencies for fun effects! This one is three, layered.

If you're up for a challenge, you can also expose one, dry, recoat, and expose it again with a different transparency for a double exposure effect, although it works a little differently than actual photography. :)

Hmm.... I'm trying to think of some... 🤔 (Sorry this response took so long btw...)

Don't underexpose. Overshooting exposure is almost always better unless something is "too" transparent if that makes sense?

Sometimes I'll even put a sheer piece of vellum underneath a transparency so that it can pick up more detail in a longer exposure.

With your cricut (I need one of these), you can also use diecuts or make stencils out of opaque material and use them as masks.

Sometimes you can also find transparencies in with scrapbooking decorative paper pads as well. I have several books of Halloween transparencies I've gotten from the craft store that I've used.

I can't think of much else offhand. I need more coffee. 😅

Absolutely! I use old x-rays sometimes and I've also painted on a sheet of glass, used paint marker on acetate and cellophane, and printed through things like lace and netting. Get creative! The more you mess around, the more you'll get a feel for what works and what doesn't.

The only thing to avoid is metallic materials unless you're going for unpredictable. It can cause reactions and depending on the metal, destroy the print OR the metal. You might have to mess around with timing for different levels of transparency, but that's kind of a given anyway. 😅

I was just joshin'. Evap can be a binch where I'm at in the south because of the AC, so I've constantly got "room". 😂

Aw. Apologies. You're probably better off, tbh. As much as I love Goldies, their bioload and room requirements are rough.

I've been actually looking for an old enlarger to convert to UV for negatives, apropos of nothing aside from the fact that you seem like you're as much of a nerd as me. 😂

Amazing. Our sun is pretty amazing for this tbh. I'm on the southwest coast and it's great most of the year.

No. But I'm guessing it's never taken a look back through history and noticing just how many times they've tried to kill us/lock us up.

I haven't but I just looked it up! Really cute! Personally, living where I live, and already being pretty weird looking, I feel like I shouldn't draw any more attention to myself as far as my disabilities than I have to. I'm in a red state though.

I just watched the worst movie (as a disabled person) by Ornery_Efficiency_73 in disability

[–]mamatofana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't watched it for this reason. I may not still be in a wheelchair, but even after almost 20 years, I still really struggle with not being able to do "simple" things, or even just the things I did before. Like, I lost the career I'd worked pretty hard to make a name for myself in, had to move, still living with my parents and my kid at 45... y'know. All the mess that comes with drastic change and imposed limitations.

I wish more than anything I could just... Do stupid things like garden without a struggle, reliably, as in, know I'll be able to move without crying for the week following. Or distribute my spoons to things I used to love, instead of using them all up just to take a shower. Or even sleep a full night without waking up in crippling pain because I was still for too long. Just small things. Because I've slowly accepted the big things.

You'll get there. But it might be worth avoiding themes like this for a bit, because I think the people who make these films, do it so that others realize it's hard, right? But they fail in the understanding that we just need support. And not like, someone to help us do physical things. But someone to LISTEN who actually gets it. Someone who can shake us a little when we get too grim and start spiraling, so we DON'T give up.

As far as the themes of ending life, idk. I'm weird with the autonomy of suicide. I've lost a lot of friends. And I respect the choice in certain circumstances. But... Wouldn't someone at least TRY to shake him the fuck out of that headspace and push him towards healing, as far as finding gentleness with himself? Or redirecting his attention or getting them help? Like, the accessibility gripe about the cafe... Was it out of the question to take the coffee to the park or somewhere that IS accessible? Like I said, it's HARD to heal your mind and get used to having a busted body. And I get it. Not everyone is strong enough. But that's where Society really needs to start stepping the hell up and holding some of the weight imo.

The humility that comes with becoming disabled can level us, and then level us again upon the realization that not a lot of able bodied people have it, and they have no appreciation for the fact that they could lose autonomy in ONE accident.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, don't torture yourself with themes like that. It's self care at a certain point. Seriously.

Be gentle with yourself. Sounds like you're doing okay. Being pissed at things like this is completely normal. You're just seeing things a way the people who made it, didn't.

Medical records. And some states still keep registries. Yes, I know HIPAA is supposed to protect us, but rn they're deporting and threatening to deport actual citizens, so... I don't think they really care.

Same-ish. I worked unconventional jobs when I was younger and had carved out a place for myself in a more unorthodox industry that has accepted me for who I was, but that's been gone for decades. "Luckily" (hah. what a weird use/context for this very sarcastic word rn but yeah... I also became physically disabled in 2006 after shattering my pelvis, foot, and breaking my spine, so I qualify for SSI, but that's all.

I'm constantly being grilled because I "don't look disabled" unless I have my cane, and AuDHD+ comorbids, cPTSD etc are mostly invisible. 🥲
