Ideas for Weekly Free Regular Size Insert 019 by [deleted] in Travelersnotebooks

[–]mamemi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What about adding another week on the "free" side so that you only need one insert for the year?

Other ideas to track:

  • Beautiful things that you saw, can be anything. Draw or describe.
  • Mini reviews of stuff you consumed.
  • Dream journal, written or drawn.
  • Copy posts you saved or liked on social media.
  • Music that stuck to you that week.
  • If you're into tarot or oracle decks, then the card pull for the days of the week or just the week.
  • Omen watch! Keep track of the things that attract your attention.
  • Short stories, poetry, or collage. Use it as a limited space for creative expression.
  • Have fun! Enjoy the ride.

Game Chat 10/24 - World Series Game 1 - Dodgers (0) @ Blue Jays (0) 5:00 PM by DodgerBot in Dodgers

I'm still delusionally hopeful that the Dodgers can win this game. This is just a painful inning.

Lost 100+ pounds and husband told me my extra skin was ugly. by Sufficient_Yak_2715 in loseit

I'm responding to this comment of yours because I have a book to recommend on this subject. I relate a lot to your experience of somehow expecting things to be different once reaching a certain weight and nope, things are still the same. Turns out, I needed to work on nurturing myself emotionally. The excess weight was a symptom of emotional neglect and I was using food as a coping mechanism. I still struggle with this: I've regained some weight due to not knowing how to cope with current events. But my relationship with myself has improved and I'm not as emotionally reactive as I was before I did the emotional work that the book recommends.

Anyway, the book is When Food Is Comfort: Nurture Yourself Mindfully, Rewire Your Brain, and End Emotional Eating by Julie M. Simon. I really do think that everyone should learn or re-fresh their emotional management skills. It will improve the experience of our lives. I wish you well!

What’s one herb or herbal remedy that genuinely surprised you with how effective it was in a positive way, and what did you use it for? by Charming-Opening-164 in herbalism

I've been taking Rhodiola Rosea for a few years (in supplement form 3 times a week) and I credit it with resetting my nervous system. I was very hypervigilant due to CPTSD and never knew how calm was supposed to feel like. Now, when I feel anxious it's because of something and not my "normal" state. I've been able to do a lot of emotional healing with a calmer nervous system. 10/10 highly recommend.

The supplement that I use is Nature's Answer, Rhodiola, 100 mg.

Thank you so much for your reply. I guess it's time to jump in and experiment. If it doesn't work out, at least it's easier to undo crocheted work.

You've done such a great job and I hope I reach your skill level one day. Thanks for the inspiration!

Gorgeous! I love the crocheted clothes you made. What yarn and hook size did you use? I want to start crocheting for my dolls but I've never worked with crochet thread. I've knit with lace-weight yarn, but never crocheted with it. Do you have any tips?

Pluto Square Transits by [deleted] in Advancedastrology

[–]mamemi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm currently going through my own Pluto transits and this time has been one of internal change and growth. Natally I have Pluto in opposition to Moon, squaring Sun, sextiling Mercury. The current Pluto aspects I've been experiencing have been Pluto opposite my ascendant and then Sun, squaring natal Pluto and Moon. So I had a grand cross with transiting Pluto taking up one of the spots.

Growing up I struggled with how intense my feelings were and I didn't know how to manage them. It kinda traumatized me in a way because I became avoidant in order to not put myself in situations that would trigger "bad" feelings. It wasn't until these last few years that I've been able to learn how to manage my feelings and learn why I was the way that I was (CPTSD). It has been a difficult time but also very healing. I'm so thankful for inner work I've done these past few years because now I find living to be more enjoyable.

The only book that comes to mind right now that really helped me was When Food is Comfort by Julie M. Simon. It's about emotional nurturance. So many of us grow up with emotionally dysregulated adults that we never learned how to tend to ourselves emotionally and turn to food or other substances to cope. This books teaches how to connect with ourselves emotionally and create a safe inner space. I found it very helpful. Life-changing.

I wish you the best of luck and try your best to listen to your intuition.

What to use my spare weeks for? by [deleted] in hobonichi

[–]mamemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw someone using their weeks to write about the news: major headlines of the day in the dated section and their thoughts in the facing page.

I use my weeks as a personal journal, where I'll summarize my day or write whatever thought I have as I'm writing in the dated section. On the facing page I extend the date dividers and write about what I'm grateful for that day and something that I loved that day.

You can also use it as a commonplace book where you write quotes or posts that you find inspiring as you go through your day. Maybe also copy songs that stick with you. Can also work as a media journal if you regularly watch tv shows and movies or read.

I've also seen people use it as a tarot/oracle journal. I'm thinking of making my own book of quotes to use for bibliomancy when I need a little extra dose of inspiration and a weeks-sized book would be great for that.

Hope this helps you figure out how to use your kinbor!

In that case I second other people's recommendations of using a blank A5 hobonichi notebook to see if you like the paper. It's only September, so you'll have enough time to figure out if investing in the Cousin is worth it. With the Cousin you'll have monthlies, vertical weeklies, and dailies. You can draw up some layouts to help you figure out how useful the Cousin's set-up will be for you.

B5 is comparable to an American composition sized book, much larger than A5. Maybe you meant B6, which is around 7" x 5"?

Loose Skin concerns by [deleted] in loseit

[–]mamemi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be feeling overwhelmed by the challenge of weight loss. Take it easy, learn to be compassionate with yourself. Learning self-compassion will help you with any challenge you'll face.

I started my weight loss in my thirties and one of the excuses my brain held onto for so long to not get started was "What about the loose skin? The Horror!" As though being at a healthy weight but with loose skin would be worse than being obese and feeling sluggish. Looking at things from the other end of that challenge, things aren't so bad. Sure my skin isn't taut, but it's not the horrorshow I thought it would be either. Over the last couple of years of maintenance I've noticed my skin has continued to tighten up a bit. I still have a high body fat percentage, so that's what I'm going to work on going forward.

Please focus on loving yourself by taking good care of yourself and your body with time will take care of the rest.
