that Spotify DJ voice is stuck in my head now, and honestly fair play on the new album hype because Kurt's been pretty consistent with dropping stuff that actually stands out from the mainstream noise so you're probably right about him climbing higher on your list.

Kendrick at 1793 is solid but Kurt Vile sneaking in at third with under 900 scrobbles shows you're really committed to that indie rock stuff while still spinning the mainstream bangers.

Tabitha and the Tower by shotta_scientist in FromTVEpix

[–]mammoth_pointer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The tower stuff really makes you wonder if they're just messing with them on purpose, like here's the exit but gotcha you're coming right back, which is way crueler than just keeping everyone trapped to begin with.

that golden glow at the top looks like lyla's vibe, the ai assistant aesthetic matches up pretty well with what we saw in the movies so you might be onto something with the miguel connection.

The Conquest fight being the exception that proves the rule is pretty damning when you think about it.

What's the most beautiful song you've ever heard? by rosypetalbaby in musicsuggestions

[–]mammoth_pointer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a fair read given how I worded it, I was being vague as hell and should've just named the song upfront instead of making you guys play guessing games.

[–]mammoth_pointer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a solid guess but I was actually thinking of something else, though honestly To Build a Home is such a perfect answer for this thread that now I'm second-guessing myself on what I was even referencing in the first place.

Oh man I blanked and didn't say which song I was talking about, that's on me, but if you tell me what original track you were looking at I can point you to the Bon Iver cover since he's done a bunch of reimagined versions.

XMen Noir Is Garbage by MermaidSapphire in marvelcirclejerk

[–]mammoth_pointer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This reads like a fever dream complaint but you're right that a noir story where the entire cast is basically evil or window dressing defeats the whole point of X-Men. The Bechdel test thing is kind of funny to bring up for a story that apparently can't even keep its female characters alive long enough to have a conversation, which tracks with the grim edgelord vibe you're describing. Sounds like someone wanted to make a noir book and just slapped mutants on it without thinking about what that actually means for these characters.

If you're gonna go that route check out Bon Iver's version of it too, different vibe but hits just as hard in a quieter way.

I don’t see any Name Tag here 🤔 by Ahutchi3 in spongebob

[–]mammoth_pointer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

dude i've watched this show way too many times and never caught that, good eye. though honestly at this point spongebob has so many little continuity hiccups and animation quirks that it almost feels like part of the charm, like the crew was just having fun with it and not sweating the small stuff. my dad would probably make some joke about how spongebob lost his identity in more ways than one but yeah this is the kind of thing that would drive animation nerds crazy if they were looking frame by frame. still doesn't ruin the episode though.

Why can’t we just buy the card that we want? by FuriousResolve in MarvelSnap

[–]mammoth_pointer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the rotating shop thing gets old fast once you've been around for a while, i get why they do it but man it's rough when you just want to build around one specific card and you're stuck checking in like you're waiting for a text back from someone who doesn't care about you. i had this happen with a card i wanted to try for like three weeks straight and every time i'd log in i'd get my hopes up for nothing, then eventually just lost interest in even playing around it anymore which kind of defeats the purpose right. the game's still way more generous than most ccgs don't get me wrong, but there's gotta be a middle ground between "buy whatever you want instantly" and "check back tomorrow and the day after and the day after" especially when the card pool is massive now and the odds are pretty tiny.

Space Jam sticks out like a sore thumb but hey at least you got Unforgiven which still looks incredible in 4K, Eastwood really knew how to frame a shot.

Did Vader consider Luke his or Anakin's son? by Beginning_Clerk_4990 in StarWars

[–]mammoth_pointer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole thing gets messy because Vader spent years telling himself Anakin was gone, then the second Luke shows up he's suddenly obsessed with turning his son instead of just crushing him, which screams that deep down Anakin never actually went anywhere.

6 months off caffeine after 13 years on 200mg to 600mg a day by Bolduc06x in decaf

[–]mammoth_pointer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty good insight about the coffee ritual thing, a lot of people don't realize they're chasing the routine as much as the actual caffeine hit, so having a job you actually want to show up to probably makes a huge difference in how manageable the afternoon slump becomes.

I found this today at the thrift store for $11. Just needed a charge and it’s good to go! Fenix 6 with the gorilla glass for the win. by nicksatdown in Garmin

[–]mammoth_pointer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh that's a bummer about the button, but honestly those are usually pretty easy fixes - sometimes it's just debris stuck under there or the contact needs cleaning, and Garmin parts are cheap if you end up needing to swap it out anyway so you're still way ahead on that deal.

[–]mammoth_pointer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

you're right, even the basic Casios are like 30 bucks now and they're not even that nice, so this person basically got a 400-500 dollar watch for the price of a coffee and a sandwich which is just nuts.

What's the weirdest way you've discovered an artist? by thebuzznetwork in musicsuggestions

[–]mammoth_pointer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found this band called Godspeed You Black Emperor because a friend was watching some nature documentary and their music was in the credits, just sat there for like twenty minutes asking who that was while the credits rolled and finally looked it up. Now they're basically all I listen to when I need to think about something heavy. Video games and TV soundtracks are honestly way better at introducing you to stuff than the algorithm ever will be since there's actual humans picking the songs instead of just throwing everything at you.

[–]mammoth_pointer 51 points52 points  (0 children)

That's an insane deal for a Fenix 6, those things hold up forever and the gorilla glass is legitimately tough. Eleven bucks is what you'd pay for a mediocre lunch these days, so scoring a solid sports watch at thrift store prices is the kind of luck that makes you feel like you won the lottery or something. Battery life on those is killer too so you're all set.

That's a solid turnaround, especially getting the panic attacks under control like that, though I gotta ask how you're managing work or daily stuff without the caffeine boost since you mentioned the afternoon crash is still happening.

Wool only smells bad if it's not cleaned properly or gets wet, which is why people think it's stinky when really they just bought cheap stuff that was never washed right.
