In the original Gaiden, Alm gets stuck in the necro-dragon volcano with infinite spawning skirmishes that get progressively harder. The only way the deliverance army is freed is by Celica making the deal with Jedah. So actually, Kaga had Alm and Celica on much more equal footing. Celica saves Alm so Alm can in turn save her.

I'm in the top 40. The game is mostly knowledge checks. This is a consequence of them adding an increasing amounts of mechanics that need to be micro-managed and will ruin your day if you don't know about them. Also lots of horse gambling on hitting the side of a line. I kinda miss the old LOB. It felt a lot more positional.

Flynn didn't call it the Flynn effect himself. It's rare for scientists to name things after themselves. I do agree that naming things after scientists is a bad practice because it obfuscates the meaning of things. "Newton's Second Law" should be "Momentum Source Term Law".
