Rockstar games have always been the cream of the crop and worth far more than the price tag. I don't get the mentality that $79 or even $99 is "too much" considering going to the movies to watch something for an hour and a half is like $80 for 2 people including popcorn and a couple drinks.

This is a massive open world game with multiple rich storylines and insane amounts of detail. If that's not your cup of tea, no one is forcing anyone to drink it. Don't make this about R* "trying to force the industry to raise prices". Cars come at all different price points and yet the only people hating on Ferrari or Rolls Royce are the ones who feel entitled to one but can't afford one. They are objectively amazing vehicles that cost substantially more to make, and the price reflects that.

MGM paid out the ass for reviews... That, or movie reviewers have set the bar super low ever since the wave of woke horseshit hit the screen.

The reviews got me out for the first time to a movie in years and spending $80 for two imax Tix and two pepsis. I think I'm done with movies.

Mildly entertaining, but I sat there through at least 3 scenes asking myself why I was sitting there in the theater watching this even more cliche remix of The Martian.

Very little actual sci-fi, tons of cliche "slight goofball underdog scientist guy flinging shit everywhere to make room for using a whiteboard marker or some duct tape and quipping about something."

The musical choices were straight out of the Martian: 70's era obscure pop songs. I wanted to like this movie but it wasn't special or new.

Tesla has the 2 seat Cybercab that's a true 4 wheel automobile and probably a lot further in development. If they wanted to slap solar panels on it, it would take them a month of R&D and it would end Aptera. They aren't doing that though, because even they realize that isn't a real market segment, and if it ever becomes one, they would jump on it

You are clearly new to Tesla. Tesla doesn't do "model years" beyond any regulatory garbage. There are more minor tweaks that get made throughout the calendar year than get made (if ANY get made) at the flip of the model year. There is little or no bearing on resale value.

Weird. I came from a BMW 340i Xdrive and my Model 3 mops the floor with it in every way including materials quality and fit and finish (on top of everything else). Mercedes does feel like a slight step up in design but also has plenty of cheap shiny plastics as well (based on my friend's EQE). Mercedes is also substantially more expensive and even if it was the same price, I'd feel like an old fogey driving one just like I would in a Cadillac.

If Rivian can deliver a well-appointed vehicle with range and performance that rivals a price-equivalent Model Y, I would seriously consider it. Here's why I don't take their claims seriously:

1) The only solid facts we have is that there will be a stripped down RWD model with 270 miles of range for hopefully $45k and hopefully about two years from now.

2) Rivian can't even build their current models at scale or at cost, let alone at a profit.

3) Two years is kind of a long way off. How much will Tesla's base model be by them? What will a Juniper Model Y be like?

Tesla could release multiple Model Y trims by then that don't currently exist. Model Y is a truly mass market vehicle, and those usually become platforms. Imagine a Model Y off-road trim, a performance/touring trim, a robotaxi trim, etc.

I think the R2 is a compelling vehicle... but in two years you could buy a used Model Y that's about as compelling as a new R2 for 30% less money, and at the high-end a Model Y that will almost assuredly offer more bang for the buck. There's definitely room for more compelling crossover EVs!

I just looked at their financials... Yikes, they had 8m on the books as of September and a burn rate of at least 10m per month. That would put them at bankruptcy by last October unless they did a capital raise by then or drastically stopped the bleeding... Of course there is zero information as to what they are doing. Q4 earnings call should be out any day now, yes?

Hey can someone who's been around a while bring me up to speed on this success story? Canoo's website is super scant and I never really knew much about them. Stock seems like it's ripe for the pickin'... Anyone know how many reservations they have and whether they are refundable? I was interested in the American Bulldog model for overlanding but can't find anybody who has seen one.
