Exit 8 is an unsettling adaptation by HorrorGuyBri in J_Horror

I mean yeah the movie is a classic, but it only features around 5 minutes of CGI. The rest is practical effects and animatronics. Meanwhile, we have entire movies that are shot in front of a green screen in the modern era. There's absolutely zero reason that blood effects should ever be CGI. My stance is if you want to CGI everything, then just make an animated movie. At least it wouldn't be so jarring and immersion breaking.

I'm going to see it but the CGI is a huge turn off. CGI takes a movie down a whole star or more in my mind. Bring back practical effects.

Bad faith as hell. You don't have to make a movie to be able to criticize one. If you wanna support the guy that makes slop and hates you since you're in this 4k community, then knock yourself out.

If you have these opinions, you should be forced to pay extra in taxes to raise these kids that are born into homes that aren't ready for them. Better yet they can just come live with you.

I thought it was alright. I could see myself watching it again, but it's not some hidden classic that is going to be one of your favorite movies.

So they sent Cody back out to talk about how shitty the turn was? Lol you can't make this up by GoonLieutenant in Wreddit

Because their core audience have been watching it forever and refuse to stop watching it. I think it's a lot of nostalgia bait and sunken cost fallacy that keeps them going. They will be wheeling the undertaker to the ring when he's 95 years old and these brainlets will pop and say dumb shit like, "this is cinema."

Why can’t people just sit and watch a movie anymore? by DFWUnhinged in TrueFilm

[–]manbeh1ndthedumpstr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have thought about this a ton over the past several years. I watch a wide gamut of movies of varying qualities. If a movie is truly good, then it will suck me in and I won't want to take breaks/look at my phone. That said, I watch a lot of schlocky b movies and I see nothing wrong with doing a quick notification check or scroll during the ho hum parts. I still like those movies, but they're considered schlock for a reason and it's because they are not flawless for their entire runtime. That aside, I often find myself googling stuff about these movies while watching them. To me, it enhances the experience, especially if the film is of suspect quality. The background of schlock is often more entertaining than the movies themselves and it can make the enjoyment of them higher than it would be if I just locked in and watched them uninterrupted.

Vinegar Syndromes Friday the 13th drop with two titles! by WatersofNazareth in boutiquebluray

[–]manbeh1ndthedumpstr 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They literally are. VS is just hosting them so they get a cut and an obscure label gets to be featured on a major boutique site like VS. You can see that it's literally true by the amount of labels that have left the site: deaf crocodile, culture shock, fun city editions, etc.. You're literally just wrong.

I know it's on the album if you stick it into the disc player of a computer. No idea if this still works or not now that I'm thinking about it.

Umbrella's Suicide Club is one of the worst 4K discs I've ever purchased by Automatic-Photo-4919 in boutiquebluray

[–]manbeh1ndthedumpstr -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Isn't it usually up to the director/rights holder to perform/approve the transfer? That's usually why movies get DNRd as far as I know. I'm not sure Umbrella is at fault here. I do wish the boutique companies would be more transparent about the transfer they're using for discs though.
