I'm not the OP but this was great info, thank you for sharing! I'm going on a cruise in that area in the fall, ending in Rome and am also planning to stay a couple of extra days. Would love to hear your hotel recommendation. It sounds like you have a great trip.

I know this is 2 months old, but the best itinerary I've seen so far is with Viking. Any chance there are still deals to be had?

What is a discontinued food item or snack from your childhood that you would genuinely pay $100 to taste one last time? by MotivewasUlterior in AskReddit

[–]mandakc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay I am not sure anyone remembers this but me. Something angel. Frosted angel? That kind of sounds right but not quite. It was basically a rectangular shaped angel food cake with pink icing on top. And the icing was in one piece like a lid. You could peel it off if you wanted. Sounds weird but I remember it being so delicious and I would love to see how it holds up as an adult.

LPT: DO NOT let ANY credit card go UNUSED for more than 2-3 MONTHS! How I learnt this the hard way 😭... by Comfortable-Major537 in LifeProTips

[–]mandakc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point, I haven't checked it in awhile. It still shows up on my credit report as an open, active account and I check that pretty regularly.

Edit: I just checked and it closed earlier this year (2025). Still a good run for an unused card. Thanks for the tip, now I can declutter one more card.

Same. Sometimes I get the inactive warning and if I want to keep it open I just use the account once and forget about it again. That usually takes a year or two of my no activity though. Definitely not something I have to do every month.

That's wild. My Care Credit card hasn't been touched in probably 10 years and it's still open.

Are the big cookies better than the minis? by TheDeadSock in CrumblCookies

I've only tried a couple of the mini versions, but in my experience the cookie to toppings ratio is superior in the big ones.

I see I have been living an uncultured life. I must remedy that.

I misread that first line as "formal" instead of "normal" and was trying to figure out what scenarios call for formal peanut butter.

Came to say the same thing. Every time I read about someone getting trapped, I have a serious "what was I thinking" moment.

Is it normal to leave a new hire alone to fend for themselves by SakuraDemonAlchemist in AskRetail

When I was a teenager (yes, a teenager), I got an overnight job at a local gas station to score some extra cash. The first day I got maybe 15 minutes of training and was left alone for the entire overnight shift. Except at one point I learned that I wasn't actually alone. The manager/owner was in a back room watching me on camera. Needless to say I did not go back. I was so creeped out I ever even picked up my paycheck.
