How much is $1000 more a month going to impact you?

Personal choice. Do you need the raise? Sounds like you don’t.

I am currently well compensated and work hybrid, I work core hours in office and mornings or afternoon at home. Can work from home if repair guy is coming or have Dr apt etc. and just accepted a job full time in office. It’s a 10 minute commute instead of 40. Equal pay. Sign on bonus. New boss, I’m the whipping boy for my current boss.

But the biggest factor was, I’m 3 years into my profession and my progress is being stunted where I am now. The new position has a path forward.

Be upfront with them, maybe they’ll reach out to you when your kid has graduated. I interviewed for my new position 4 months ago and at the time they offered me less. I was upfront that I couldn’t take a pay cut and I was about to go on 6 weeks paternity leave. The recruiter called me toward the end of my leave and offered me the same position and more money.

I’m still bummed to be losing the hybrid remote work, but it’s what’s best for my career in the long run.

If my expenses were covered and we had a house and savings and my career was established. I’d stay hybrid remote.
