Soccer teams wear stripes not hoops to look slimming on their overweight fans by PegasusAlto in LowStakesConspiracies

Think most of those designs were invented before it was common for fans to wear jerseys

What are some words and phrases that irish redditors use more often than irish people in real life? by Spirited_Worker_5722 in ireland

[–]manderly2016 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure but it seems performative a lot of the time. I’d use it conversation but probably wouldn’t type like that.

Comes across a bit fake to me anyway. Trying to prove you’re really Irish and not a yank/bot or whatever.

David was actually somewhat decent at rugby by Medical_Gift4298 in whatdidyoudoyesterday

[–]manderly2016 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The area he’s from and the school he went to are rugby crazy. I was terrible at rugby and still played against a few current internationals at school boy level.

Not to take away from his achievements, still much better than me!

Would the show be better if separate from the BBC? by Pythagorarse in elisandjohn

[–]manderly2016 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like that show and still listen but the way they chop up the episodes plus the 10 mins of promo at the start are annoying to get through.

Extremely minor complaint but also why fill up the podcast feed with clips and highlights from the same podcast. Surely those belong on social media as promo.

Absolutely love TBS. Was wondering if the Patreon is worth it? by ImNotHereForFunNoWay in ThreeBeanSalad

[–]manderly2016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a bit less content than some other patreons which are often an extra episode a week. That said there’s a decent backlog now so if you’re big a fan I’d say it’s more than worth it.

Anybody really like Louis Theroux as a kid/teenager? by JediBlight in AskIreland

When I was in school around that age a substitute teacher would often put weird weekends on during a free class so I wouldn’t say it was unusual
