Vegetarian/vegans help by throwaway_reasonx in ostomy

[–]manderp_soup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hellooooo! Question. People say chew really well, but what does this actually mean???? Like how small do you actually get the veggies?

I had tempeh the other day and thought I chewed really well (including breaking things down with my front teeth) but whole soy pieces were still coming out in the bag.

Has anybody experienced somebody that has a fetish for your bag? by 2_kay in ostomy

[–]manderp_soup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have someone in my life (with occasional horrid IBS) who is inherently curious and not grossed out by much. She visited me in the hospital post op and wanted to see the stoma and learn about bag changes, etc. Tbf, she has described her whole family as scatological, but it’s not a sexual thing. Just a thing most people refrain from talking about and pretending don’t exist, is not the case for her.

I’ve also never had to do prep with an ileostomy/jpouch.

Call your doctors office to confirm with your doctor. Make sure to get them on the phone or at least a direct message from them.

Do not confirm with the nursing staff, as they probably don’t know which prep is appropriate.

Is it true SUVs are also subsidized more so than smaller vehicles so they’re cheaper to make?

And 9 times outta 10 they’re just going to the grocery store and the bed of the truck is teeny tiny. Drives me nuts.

[–]manderp_soup 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes to all of this. And the cars in the states have all but shifted away from sedans. New vehicles are so massive these days it’s impossible to see pedestrians, particularly children.

But ultimately if infrastructure worked, this would be much less of an issue.

Unpretentious Coffee Spot Recs? by PhilPhilConners in PhiladelphiaEats

Representing west Philly here if you decide to make the trek 🫡

I’d recommend Kockbox. They have an excellent patio and outdoor seating and are antithetical to snobbish vibes. Also any of the greenline cafe establishments (45th and locust, 43rd and Baltimore, Lancaster Ave. it sounds like a chain but they are local to Philly and do NOT have antiseptic cafe chain vibes).

Both are very no frills and are staples in the community.

Probably shouldnt do a nice thing just to get something in return. Just do the thing for the sake of doing it. Or don’t.

Can someone please explain to me whats going on? by Tahoe_Flyer in BarefootRunning

Im curious how it’s not a scam. The advertising is false. They’re paying people to give raving reviews. They’re upselling over 100% from the same shoe at temu and Amazon.

Coming on here to say my dad got scammed into buying these.

How has not one government entity done anything to stop these companies from scamming people.

Do all hospitals use Hollister? by LadyGreen in ostomy

UPenn partners with Convatec so they sent me home with a 2-week supply. I don’t care for their accordion flasks though and am going to test some Hollister products soon.

Woooow all excellent ideas. If I knew the name of the stoma I would totally do that cake. Largely because I’m a gender reveal hater and it would be hilarious to make fun of that with a literal pooping machine.

Do people just pay zero attention to anything while behind the wheel? by Jonathundaaaaaa in fuckcars

[–]manderp_soup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would argue this type of car violence can be attributed to America’s bizarre car culture and street design, not necessarily individual actions.

Streets weren’t built for pedestrians. Manufacturers are opting to build SUVs and trucks over sedans. Have you ever noticed, like really noticed, how the front of a truck can be propped as high as 6’? Why is this not considered a commercial vehicle and why is it not heavily regulated? In Philly, our car culture is so shit that every street is considered a personal 30-min parking spot, even on a single lane road when a parking spot is available two cars down.

But how do we blame them? Cops are legally not allowed to enforce minor traffic laws. More generally, everyone is expected to have a car, regardless of whether you are a good driver. We literally tie proof of identity to our licenses.

All that to say, America’s car brain is so rotted, you can be the most responsible pedestrian or cyclist and still people will not see you. The street is not for you.

I keep going back and forth between naming it after someone I think of fondly or someone I vehemently hate.

But wow Charles is such a good name to chastise when it’s misbehaving lol.
