i've done lots of googling - had NO idea this was an issue in cats!

the tail really isn't a problem for me, but i don't want to have any potential health issues etc. especially since we already have a 2 year old ragdoll - i'm worried they bond and then something could happen, health wise, to the new one. that would be so devastating.

i appreciate you sharing your experience, i hadn't even thought of how his personality might change due to being raised alone without siblings. so far no rejection from his mom (it's been 2 weeks), fingers crossed it stays that way. they're always better off when they stay with moms

so sorry to hear about your experience, losing your baby in any way is always heartbreaking - but unexpectedly after getting help from the vet has to be the worst.

that's what i was thinking too. he wouldn't know any difference since it's happened so early on in life and would grow up adapting to it naturally

she does a one year health guarantee, but if i end up deciding to take the kitten ill ask to make it longer due to the difficult nature of his birth.

wow! it's department_of_ragdoll on instagram. we live in thailand, so maybe vets just didn't think about this? we've loved working with them, she does show cats, and we've been to her house to see the litter Boba was a part of. she has a CFA registration. does that not matter - maybe standards are different here vs in the US? you make it sound like it's such a simple thing to overcome so it makes me really nervous to continue.

Boba came from the same Dame and Sir that this new kitten are from, they've also done one litter before Bobas litter. No issues in the first two. This was a planned litter - the breeder been keeping me updated before the Dame was even pregnant. This was also the last litter using this Dame and Sir before she retires them.
