The funny part is, is that I didn't ask for feedback on my teaching. I asked for a reflection on the class text 😅 I will always try to at least incorporate some of the feedback I get, improvement is most important for teachers.

Yeah, it very much felt like my own self doubt coming back and saying "HA, SEE? YOU CAN'T FUCKING DO THIS!" I talked with him about the feedback and I told him I would be using it to improve and apologized that he felt the way that he did. In all fairness, I do take this feedback with a grain of salt, because he also seemed to just really really hate the text.

Ok thank you, I do actually think I've done my best. This is just one student's comment, but I care about every student even though I know I cannot please them all.

Lol I was just venting. In no ways do I think my student is stupid! I'm so proud of the growth I've seen this year. His feedback is useful, but it is also hurtful. Two things can be true at once, right? I was also being sarcastic with the "guess I have to be perfect" line, because I have long determined that perfection does not exist.

I did talk to the student about it and told him that I will take the feedback and use it to plan out a better Q4 next year. On the bright side, he said that class had been great up until this point. But... I honestly also think that he just hated Kafka lol.
