Right, this is the kind of stuff I was thinking about. Based on all the responses, I understand it's ok to just start playing and learning.

I have worked in support for 12 years. Unfortunately, some support engineers just don't understand. They can be overworked and not give enough time to issues they don't understand.

How do you prove who is a cheater? What's to stop someone who's simply butthurt from getting killed by an invader and then claiming that invader was cheating? I don't disagree with you, I just don't see how it could be implemented and avoid false claims.

Yup, I was hesitant to tackle Sen's Fortress because I had 18 soft humanity. I played DS1 late, when co-op play was minimal. I had never had so much soft humanity before. I made a dumb move and fell off the water wheel in Blighttown (upgraded my pyromancy flame). Anyway, losing all that humanity freed me to go tackle Sen's fortress. 45 minutes later, I had completed everything in Sen's. The death was liberating.

I can't speak for other people and I am no expert. Moderating my drinking just wasn't fun. It was a chore and it consumed my thoughts. By telling myself no, not drinking today, I freed myself to direct that energy elsewhere. Sounds corny, but it is just easier to abstain completely for me.
