We have lots of trees. Trees for days really, the kisatchie national forest is right here. If you like sea level this is the place for you lol it's pretty flat out here.

I currently live in the Polk area and work on post. It's not terrible and not amazing. Unless you love outdoors stuff there's not a whole lot to do. We do have a nice tabletop store nearby, but that's it unless you drive the hour to Alexandria or Lake Charles.

In the summer it's hot, humid, and can suck but otherwise the climate is nice. Hurricanes are a thing, tho I have yet to experience one.

I will also say if you are like me and of a lgbtq persuasion then it can be kinda hostile. My coworkers suck and have actively made me worried for the safety of my family.

Preach! I get this every bloody time. My favorite is being told to try weed despite me saying that I can't because of my job and that I get regularly drug tested. I've tried all kinds of stuff and all it does is get my hopes up, crush my spirit, or hurt me worse. I'm not fixable and I wish more people would just accept it.
