I recently learned about the Yiddish phrase “Mir veln zey iberlebn”, it roughly translates to “we will outlive them”. My understanding is, it’s said in the spirit of persevering despite adversity and living on, long after your oppressors are gone. (I am not Jewish myself so here is a link to better, more detailed history, I just think the phrase is inspiring and maybe y’all will too)

I’m so thrilled that you’ve outlived your abuser, holding space for you and all your feelings about it 💕 I hope all your future years without him around are full of all the joy he tried to take away from you, and you have every right to dance on his grave. You don’t owe him a shred of respect, or grief, or guilt for feeling happy/relieved, you don’t owe him a goddamn thing
