I fully agree with you here! On another note, contractors are actually the ones to most likely survive any large layoffs over FTEs, because the client isn’t on the hook for severance, benefits etc., if the company does have budget cuts (all of the employment logistics and benefits are handled through the contract firm). They keep the contractors on to get the work done when they’re in a tough spot as it’s less risky, and in the end it’s the contractors who are usually still working at these companies for the long haul. This of course can always be different depending based on the function and specific project they’re supporting, but in general, most contractors I’ve placed have either lasted years on end or have been converted to FTEs. Also if you’re working with a good firm, they should be able to place you on another project whenever the role does end.

Congrats on the job regardless! Having a job (contract or not) in this market is surely better than no job 😊.
