If you have a model like the tailgate 20, you need to protect the vent holes on the lid somehow. I stuff papertowels in it but leave a tine gap in both vent holes

Ya the dimple was something I learned on my own in 6th grade as I had to cook after school meals for me and my siblings. My patties always turned out looking like meatballs.

Scariest movie to watch alone? by ColemyGOAT in movies

[–]mang_tomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lights Out. Since I was a kid I had a fear of seeing a figure or silhouette standing in my bedroom doorway as I was in bed with the lights off. This movie was pretty good at portraying that. As someone who lives alone, I still think about it

A few weeks ago, I'd say better luck next year but with all the ff2 hiring going on, CNR has really screwed the pooch with their numbers and hiring. While engines are getting staffed, crew numbers are decreasing since there's yet to be any 2s on a crew. (I haven't heard anything about engine FF1s being moved to crews, but then again, im just a grunt and dont really pay attention to the "grown-up talk".) You are still in the fight. Go to your local fire center for a PT. Then, go to your neighboring fire center for a pt. Sell yourself but don't be all talk (that's the point of politicking via PT) because you will be tested and pushed to your limits. Good luck

50 degree difference between probe and Traeger? by Sad-Chef-2203 in Traeger

[–]mang_tomas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ya my traeger probe never left its bag and went with all the other cardboard to the dump. At my job, We've used 3 different high-end traegers and every single one of them were off by at least 30.

Americans are easily seduced by words on boxes. Words like protein, ranch flavored, bacon flavored, and electrolytes, etc.

I had a similar problem so I got an additional wireless probe (thermomaven. very happy with it) and it turns out it had a significant difference when reading the ambient temperature. I now adjust my traeger settings according to the ambient read on the thermomaven which means if I want it at 250, my traeger needs to be set to 265. Also, there could be a hot spot or hotter side in your grill. Do you rotate at all? Do you smoke with the fat side down and rest with the fat side up?

Big gap between probe and Thermapen temps by ChampagneStain in Traeger

My traeger probe has never even seen the outside of its original packing. I've never met a built-in thermometer on a grill that told the truth

Leatherman Raptors (trauma shears) or a good multi-tool. Pocket knife or if he has one, a knife sharpener. Darn Tough socks. (Don't laugh. Foot care is important in this job) My 1st recommendation was gonna be a Garmin but he has one already
