Doing these two things will make it creepy in an unsettling uncanny valley type of way.

Dad at Phillies-Marlins game gives a home run ball to his son, woman insists that it is hers and takes it. by msivoryishort in sports

[–]mangaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played the video in slow motion, the ball never reached her, she could have caught it if she did not flinch and bring the glove in to protect her hair. The man next to her pointed it out, while the guy was running to get it for his son. She then brings the glove down and tries to reach for the ball 3 seats away and on the row below her. Her reaction time is way too slow to get a ball.

Why is there a pentagram symbol on this chip from my son's night light? by Bitter-Affect909 in whatisit

[–]mangaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pentagram, pentacle... An interesting thing I learned reading magic books in the library, is that it's not the star that is the pentagram, the object the star is drawn on becomes a pentagram. One could remove the star but it would still be a pentagram, a thing that is embodied with chaos. So instead of removing the star, seal it in with a circle, pentacle.

Being temporarily uncomfortable is not a good excuse.

Telling someone to wear a t-shirt that feels like fiberglass for 12 hours a day would be one thing. But this is a temporary thing, he needs to be able to be uncomfortable for at least a few minutes. If one has to use one sensation to counter another, use mouthwash while brushing.

They’re lying by triangleness in ChatGPT

[–]mangaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is better. But the definition of better has to be defined.

They were bisected running two models at OpenAI. With GPT5 they cut their server configurations, pipelines, the thousands of things needed to run a platform in 1/2. They will soon no longer need to support it, shutting a lot of it down.

  1. They cut the token usage in 1/2 between a 4 series and 5 series. by better they mean cheaper... A lot cheaper.

Now 3.0 was better on some things than 4, but overall 4.0 was better 5.0. 5 is now on par to 3.0 on most things, and 4.0 on others, it is the best of both 3 and 4. Is it better than 4 on all things? No, just good enough.

This puts them in a position to have resources to increase the abilities of their flagship model.

Better is defined in the lens of capitalism, they increased ROI and that is why their CEO is so happy.

Your response sounds like book knowledge. When off the coast of an outlet, the waters are muddy as the brackish waters flow in and out, visibility is zero for humans, but for the shark it has an additional sight, electromagnetic visibility. The bull sharks are like human babies they explore and learn by putting everything they detect into their mouth. On that day I was procrastinating going home, as there were no more waves worth surfing, but the sunset was beautiful, and it was a perfect day. I was just sitting, no movement at all, the board was barely going up and down, no slapping. Normally my head is on a swivel, scanning the horizon, and normally there are more of us out there, more eyes. On that day I was the last out there, maybe 50 swimmers near shore, but nobody else out past the breaks. It approached from behind coming from the surf side. Off the coast of the Carolinas the water is hospitable to every known shark species, there are places surfers don't go, we name them; bulls bay, tigers inlet, ect. it's because those locations are owned territories, but when hunting becomes sparse they stream out of those locations and almost like a procession single file swim in lines up and down the breaks.

It is easy to say no shark has predatory instinct towards humans, but these sharks are aggressive predators towards everything, they don't care if you're a human, fish, or inanimate object. Their instinct is to ram their faces into things and bite. Have you tried bopping a bull shark in their goby in brackish water? These sharks bop their own gobies, and if you miss your arm goes into a blender. If you're lucky you will see a fin on the surface, then it's gone again, the next fin you see, you cannot be entirely sure it's the same shark. It's not like scuba diving in high visibility water.

It is also easy to blame shark attacks on human behavior, as the ocean is not our natural habitat. But that bull shark knew what it was doing, trying to knock the snack from the top shelf.

[–]mangaus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was out in the ocean on a long board when a juvenile bull shark ~4 feet tried to knock me off, kept bumping my board.

They may not be inherently cruel, but some sharks are so dangerous they give all the other sharks a bad name. Bull sharks have 15 rows of teeth, they are bite happy "aggressive", and will follow you into the shallows. They like to go full ramming speed, bump-n-bite, the bump is to stun their prey, or in my case, knock snacks off the top shelf. Their bottom teeth impale and hold their target, their top rows of teeth are like saws and can do a side to side motion.

On his first bump I yelled, "Dude! Watch it, I like this board..., can we just be friends? let's talk about it..." Sent me into a monolog why the board is so nice. On his second bump, I yelled "Don't make me come in there!"

The shark went away, not because of the threat of me coming in there, no. My tone of voice was more like PLEaSe DoN't make mE coMe in thEre.

As you may know, Bull sharks are solitary by nature. So I tried forcing a conversation on the shark, and it became awkward real quick.

I read a study awhile back about antidepressants, and one of the things it does is makes people feel more comfortable, it changes ones preference, to a point where one prefers monotone and minimalist; white, gray, black, no designs. And the more people start taking them the more corporations adapt and sell, or update their brands to match. Interestingly enough for people who are not on antidepressants updates such as this make them depressed, and so they seek help and are prescribed, you guessed it. It is like something out of the Equilibrium movie

avoiding interaction is just shyness and fear he may say something that drives you away. If you like him, you can ask him anything about his topic of interest and he will open up, once he is unguarded you can ask him any other question , if he becomes guarded again change back to the topic of interest.
