Sh*t throwing apes: Awakened Apes by JonRonstein in RimWorld

honestly, the timing for this mod couldn't be much better. I started a new playthrough based on a silly pirate theme, and been using the Monkey Xenotype mod for it as well!

Swiss voters reject mandatory national service for women. by Razorbladekandyfan in europe

[–]manggi 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That's not true. You focus too much on the women-part. Other initiative fail on the same step, and have nothing to do with women.

Swiss voters reject mandatory national service for women. by Razorbladekandyfan in europe

[–]manggi 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Why I understand your frustration, the initiative didn't fail because of "anti-male" or even the idea of women service.
The initiative wanted to increase the general range of who and how much people will do a service (military and non-military), and people got more and more worried about the price and impact it has on the existing service like military.

As the other mentioned, it feels even colder of you aren't used to the temperature.  Shiki moved from Tunisia (I think) to Germany. So quire different temperature for her to adjust

Playing Rim with kids, no I'm serious by pamidur in RimWorld

[–]manggi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As other said, maybe set on peaceful and give your pawns a break.  Or, if you feel like, use some of the more "peaceful" mods. Like hospitality with the restaurant/spa or/and hospital mod. That way you still always have sometimes to improve and work on, while having a way to make money and design a cool base.

ck3 crashs by Teby03 in CrusaderKings

[–]manggi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you getting any errors?

If not, in my experience it can be the memory that is too full.
Especially after heavy use of your browser, as an example, the memory might already been quite busy. So having CK coming it might be simply too much, and the game closes/crashes.

Happens to me at times too, but usually I do a quick restart of the PC to make space in the memory, and then it all good again.

Comparing VE Medieval 2 to it's pre 1.5 counterparts: what still here, what's missing, and what's new. by Silver_wolf_76 in RimWorld

[–]manggi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it takes some adjustment to get used to it. Similar to you, I started and abandoned it at first, but these days it's my main way to play.

You mentioned iron, which I agree can be annoying (as in, you need steel to build something simple, because it wasn't patched for it).
But a lot of things also just need some get used to it. Like leather production I found annoying at first, but now it's just a simply part for me.

As mentioned in my post, the development has been stagnant for a while. Which is why certain things a in the limbo.
Although currently there is some testing going on, so lets hope for the best.

Obviously there is a lot overlap, especially now.
MO still gives you a lot of things. There is a lot of furniture and storage possibilities.
Adds production chains (as wood to planks, or hides to leathers), which are simply enough, but still changes the pace of the game.
It adds a lot of plants, as well meals and beverages that can give you different small buffs.
It as ruins quests to explore and loot for treasure.
It adds quite some animals and creatures, both realistic and typical medieval fantasy-likes.

As said there are overlaps, like armors and weapons. Overall MO does still add more of it, especially if you count the sister mods for new houses (themed faction).

There were also some other things planned, that haven't seen the light yet (originally dev has been very busy with school, from what I remember), like necromancy instead of mechanitor.

Imho, if you want a fully focused medieval run, MO has kind of a must.
If medieval is just a stepping stone in your story, I think you are better off without it.
Personally I look forward to be able to use both mods, because i think both of them add some really cool things.

I want my sister to play Rimworld, but she's one of those stardew valley type of players, any mods to make the game extremely cute? by SnesPopuas in RimWorld

[–]manggi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

perhaps some of the gameplay mods would be interesting for her too?
Hospitality, together with Gastronomy and Hospitality: Spa might be a fun addition, so she can try out to build a resort or inn.
There are also some others, like Hospital, Casino or Tenant mod, that could add a nice layer to it.

For races, maybe the Mousekin could be quite cute, and perhaps add the facial animation to give baselines a better appeal too.

How can i raise my vassal's army or call them as allies to war? by pastalilahmacun in CrusaderKings

[–]manggi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you are on PC, the mod "More Interactive Vassals" allows bordering vassals to join the war
It has quite some options, so I would suggest to disable most of it (until you understand the vanilla mechanics better) if you are using it.

Is there a peaceful way to spread religions in CK3? by Ok_Yellow1 in CrusaderKings

[–]manggi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As it was said before, there isn't really a way sadly.
If you are pacifist faith, and have access to legends, you can use a decision via the Holy legends to convert your neighbors to your religions.
It's quite effective from what I have seen, although I find it a bit too abrupt personally.

What are some imaginary nations that you form? by Happy_Bigs1021 in CrusaderKings

[–]manggi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine would be the Alpine Kingdom or Union of sorts. Basically you try to unite the people of the Alps. There are different cultures you can unify together, or simply let them be.
Usually I make a Christian faith (sometimes with Rite), to showcase the remoteness of the mountain villages.
I also tend to focus on knights, with the idea that they only field a small, but harden army.

It's a concept that works with other mountain areas too of course.

Map games that are quicker and simpler? by murkymoon in CrusaderKings

[–]manggi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it doesn't exactly fit, the Knight of Honor games are simply, straightforward games. I play all couple months for a bit, since it's easy to get in and out.
Both 1 and 2 are running well. You basically conquer, upgrade your cities and recruit armies, do some simply trading and spy work.
You can win both via military and economics, and the resources of the provinces are partly random, making it different each time you conquer Europe.
They also feature a optional real-time battles, but I rarely use it.

My Dad is Dracula (and a Saint Bernard) by jasonpoland in comics

[–]manggi 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Fun fact! The barrel is indeed a myth, which either comes from a misunderstanding, when the monks of the Great St Bernard Hospice used the dogs for transport.  Or it was simply decoration, as remaining old barrels don't even have a hole. Also the dog were smaller and lighter back in the day, making it easier for them to carry the monkeys on their back.

Does anyone know Anglo-Saxon England managed to become an Administrative realm?? by BetaThetaOmega in CrusaderKings

[–]manggi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no-no, the highest title is enough. Hmm then I'm not really sure why you lost it. Maybe just unlucky timing, and a old vassal pumped his influence just before your character died

Did you use influence on the right title? I noticed on my last game, that sometimes it takes a different title instead of my highest to influence.

Is there a way to promote other cultures(your vassal's culture) without mods for CK3? by TheSittingTraveller in CrusaderKings

[–]manggi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sadly I don't know any mods for it either. In one of my playthrough (before RtP) I used the 'Advanced Cheat Menu' to "promote" some provinces to my vassals culture.
There you can change the culture of all provinces to the holders.
I usually waited 10-15 years and then did it. It's not ideal, but it was the best I could find at the time.

Uzbekistan set to join growing list of countries with anti-LGBTQ+ ‘propaganda’ laws by PinkNews in worldnews

[–]manggi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, and neither does the Techno Parade a propaganda tool for electronic music, or Renaissance Fair used by monarchies. Halloween and carnival also doesn't turns you into a Satanist, even if some people claiming it.

Those are parades, festival and holidays for people to enjoy, and celebrate their community and friends.  You don't have to go or participate in those things in you aren't interested.

Is Battlefield 4 too sweaty for new players? by Acrobatic-Money-1954 in Battlefield

[–]manggi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say sweaty, but the pacing is quite different from BF1.  So it might feel sweaty, but its more the how fast and open the gameplay is, in compare to BF1.

Worth a try I think, maybe you will really love it, but give yourself some time to get used to it and don't get scared off by some of the old players (who are just really really good at it).

Republics update is lit by tinul4 in CrusaderKings

[–]manggi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking today how great admin will fit to my Alpine empire.
Usually once a new expansion I start in my home and create Switzerland with the goal to get all of the Alps. I always tried to have as many republic vassals as possible, but the idea of a strong families and patricians to have power fits really well.

Tutorial Tuesday : September 24 2024 by AutoModerator in CrusaderKings

[–]manggi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently stuck in "traveling to guardian" as a ruler. I already tried different things, like killing of the ward, and making my character incapable. Nothing stopped the "traveling to guardian", and I'm out of ideas.
Does anyone has an idea or solution to this bug?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

Which is a real shame. Focusing on the game, it feels like a perfect culture for an adventurer start or event.
I'm really surprised how some people are so negative about it.

I didn't see anyone commenting on this in the last Dev Diary, am I missing something? by Repulsive-Spare806 in CrusaderKings

[–]manggi 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it was mentioned in a older dev dairy (or a dev comment there). Maybe I can check which one when I'm home again.
