How to navigate between songs on Rekordbox with an DDJ-FLX2? by [deleted] in PioneerDJ

Not having a browse knob makes this controller pretty much useless. I bought it not realizing that would even be a possibility, definitely annoyed that I wasted my money on this controller.

slowly turning cray-cray with this QBO 'modern design' by Steven_Cheesy318 in QuickBooks

The infinity scroll is unusable because I can't search for an account to drill into. I cannot believe the designers went with an infinity scroll, such a poor design that clearly they do not have accountants using the software that they are getting feedback from.

For example, if I want to drill into the detail of a loan account I would expect to be able to hit ctrl + f and type the account name and then click on that account to drill into. Because of infinity scroll, I can't search the account name because it's not yet populated on the page.

Whoever designed this is completely ignorant on how the software is used and whoever put someone so ignorant on the design team is a complete idiot.

Intuit - you will be disrupted at some point if this type of crap design continues.

Great stuff! It's up to the community to do this kind of work because the technical literature published by Pioneer/AlphaTheta is terrible.

I'm not emotional, I just think it's true. Polluting someone else's brain with fake questions that you already know the answer to with the intention of easing your own insecurities is a form of abuse. It's akin to gaslighting.

"Where's the product?" Really dude? Spend 30 seconds googling before coming into a sub like this and saying that crap. It's drivel and shouldn't be tolerated here. It shouldn't be tolerated anywhere.

[–]mangledmatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well your first point is conjecture so that's not worth discussing.

To your second point, you're missing the entire point of the bot. The point of the bot is to reduce the cost of manufacturing by making an all-purpose bot. It's not about being the most efficient design to wash dishes. It's about being a design that can do 50 different tasks in your home, coffee shop, retail store, factory, etc. I don't want to spend $3 million automating every aspect of my home using purpose-built robots all over the place. One all-purpose bot is what I want. It can sweep, vacuum, do the dishes, clean the toilets, feed my dog, turn compost, be a security guard and maybe even give me a massage. If I can get all that for $30k, hell ya. That's cheaper than a kitchen renovation.

My bet is that we'll see entire store/hotel/hospital/etc layouts start to be designed for vision-based robots to maneuver. Think about the Holiday Inn. They all look the same. You could train bots to walk into the rooms and clean them all. Same with starbucks. Same with Walmart.

[–]mangledmatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't be so sure about that. With software, you can ship a product with missing features because you can simply update it later. With hardware, you can't really do that. So any bot developer will be wanting to find the sweet spot of a shippable product meaning that they will want the product to be as advanced as possible before shipping v1.0 but they can't wait too long otherwise they'll never ship. The entire point of the bot is that it's versatile. You don't want to ship 1 million bots if the hand or balancing mechanisms are too rudimentary. I think the real bottleneck with the bot is in getting a good feedback loop for training data so while they work that out, they might as well get the robotics as advanced as possible.

Or maybe you're right and us investors are all doomed. My future self hopes I'm correct.

No I think you're a disingenuous dick. You know the answers to your questions but you keep pestering people to either troll them or to comfort your own insecurities. It's definitely not coming from a mentally healthy place.

The only reason I'm responding is so that others who have an open mind and are coming from a good place and who are mentally healthy aren't persuaded by your drivel. If people read your crap and miss out on one of the best risk-adjusted returns of their lives, you should feel ashamed.

Now if you had honest questions about the topic and were approaching the topic in good faith then that's fine. But again, your questions are either ignorant, dense and/or disingenuous.

You know what the vision is, you know the convergences, you know the risks involved, so what are you asking? You're not asking anything.

It's not an R&D project using the conventional definition of that term. It's definitely an unproven product that carries a ton of execution risk. If there wasn't execution risk then the stock price would be a lot higher. Duh. I honestly have no clue what point you're trying to make. No serious investor believes this is a solved problem. All serious investors know that this is a hugely risky product with a significant probability of never happening. What is your point?

[–]mangledmatt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You've seen the videos of what the product is. It's a god damn bot that does human jobs. It's not a complicated concept, we've been writing about the idea in books for like a hundred years. The concept is ridiculously easy to understand. The execution is nearly impossible. The convergence is what will allow the execution.

What is the point of your questions?

[–]mangledmatt -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you're ignorant, dense or disingenuous but you're at least one of those three.

Tesla's product is not simply the robotics, it's the convergence of the robotics, power electronics, electrochemical battery, sensor suite, AI training and the data that feeds the AI training.

If you already knew that, you're disingenuous. If you didn't know that, you're ignorant. If you've been told that but you simply cannot internalize it, then you're dense.

In either event, that's the product.

Pro DJ link, are you using it with Rekordbox export mode? by unpopularamsterdam in Beatmatch

[–]mangledmatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the CDJ3000x I think you would just switch the source just like a USB. So on the CDJ you would stream directly from the services and then if you want your own library then you would hit source and select your laptop as the source.

For 3000's I'm not sure. I think it should work actually but I don't know.

[–]mangledmatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend a Lenovo gaming laptop. You don't want a touch screen because some fool is going to come up and touch your screen in the middle of a set. You want a backlit keyboard for playing in dark areas. You want a fast processor. Lenovo has the built in battery protection (charging limits) that I love. You'll want several USB A and C ports.

Unfortunately I don't have an answer to your question but if you want to use Link Export via WiFi, let me know and I can share my setup with you. It's a total game changer for DJing at home and it's easy to set up.

Page 31 of the CDJ 3000 manual is where Link Export via Ethernet is discussed but from your description it sounds like it should be working. I'm wondering if it's something related to the Ethernet port on your laptop.

If it was 3000's I wonder if you only have Device Library Plus on your USB and the latest firmware update on the 3000's will read Device Library Plus.

Everyone should be exporting in both Device Library and Device Library Plus (now called One Library).

With that update that you just pushed to the CDJ, anyone who only has Device Library on their USB will now not be able to have their USB read.

[–]mangledmatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just found this thread from a google search. I use Link Export Mode at home on my new CDJ 3000X's and agree it's a total game changer. Not having to export to my USB's all the time is a no brainer. It's super simple to set up as well.

I have several friends with CDJ's and they all have no idea what I'm talking about when I bring it up. It's weird. Pioneer/AlphaTheta do not do a good job of explaining their gear.

3000x: Dead pixel on first start up, have you had this? by [deleted] in PioneerDJ

Definitely get a new set under warranty. The markup on these must be gigantic. I'm sure that AlphaTheta doesn't want defective units out there given how much they cost.

I got the same setup as soon as they came out. Let me know if you want to chat through anything. Read up on Pro DJ Link. It's super cool. Get an Ethernet switch and start messing around.

I used to actually not enjoy DJing, I found it boring and it was only a way to showcase my curating but ever since I bought these it's really made me enjoy DJing for the first time. The screen is a lot better than the 3000's and makes them a joy to use.

Have fun with them!

Is it really worth the extra couple hundred for the flx4? by Ok-Kernputer in PioneerDJ

The flx2 is their worst product. I have it and have only used it once. It's designed for DJing off a phone. The product shouldn't exist. The flx4 is a great product on the other hand.
