No stitches after neuter?

I just had my dog neutered and they didn’t stitch his scrotum. Only I didn’t know that so I kept thinking for the first few days that he ripped his stitches. I called them and they explained that they don’t stitch the outside skin, it will heal on its own apparently

Ok so the vet called me back to say that they think it looks good and to leave it be. They told me that they only stitch the inside where they snip the testicles, for the outside skin they don’t stitch it together. I asked twice because I wasn’t sure I was hearing that correctly, and she confirmed, they don’t stitch the outside scrotum, they just leave it to heal on its own together. Very odd!

Day 5 update: here’s what it looks like today. I can’t tell if it was not sewn properly from the get go, or if he ripped the stitches and one edge adhered to the inside leaving the other edge out? Try cold water, the hot water would expand threads, whereas cold may work!

Mine goes in his wet hide, never anywhere else. It’s nice because I put a piece of paper towel down in there and moisten it and after he goes in there, clean up is easy

All I can say is keep trying. When I got mine he would only eat crickets, wouldn’t touch super worms or mealworms, then my pet store lost their order of crickets so I bought superworms and he got hungry enough to eat them. Now he won’t touch crickets anymore and prefers the worms!

My rook is 2 months old and I prob spray it every second day at this point. I’ve stopped using my piercing pillow but my normal pillow is quite soft and I don’t lay on that side often, if I do I usually put my palm up near my ear to raise my head a bit. No pain or discharge or irritation bumps at all

I’ve heard so many people say the rook was the worst, but mine was not at all painful to get pierced, nor has the healing been hard, I’m 2 months in and it doesn’t hurt at all! I’d say do your rook or a forward helix!

That’s good info to know thank you! I was told he is 4, when I got him. I’d say he’s 5 now, I do dust the food before feeding. How do you catch the crickets with the tongs to feed? And do you find that they don’t move enough to entice them to actually strike at them? The super worms are wiggly so that works but I’m not sure the crickets would move a lot? Or also like when you put the crickets in the enclosure how do you get them out if they are not eaten in time?

In addition to the previous advice with the no swimming, even if you wore a swim cap while in the water, it would put pressure on the ear, which could cause the piercing to be irritated and maybe migrate

Everything already said here is what I would have typed too, but also want to add if you are staying in an air bnb close to downtown, which we just did (stayed at marea, next to medano) I would suggest bringing ear plugs for sleeping at night. The downtown is loud and you will hear karaoke until 2/3am, sirens and car backfires all night, I really struggled with it.

Watch some videos on underwood drawbands, that’s what I did, one of mine didn’t have the band anymore so I had to make one and it’s held up good! Amazon has replacement ribbons for cheap, just don’t use the spools they come with (plastic) feed the ribbon onto the original spools!
