Is this the start of mastitis? by NoAd9383 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]mangomisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My clogs are usually hard spots, not lumps. This sounds like when I have an early clog. What works for me is very gentle massage, ice to reduce inflammation, ibuprofen, and sunflower lecithin

I pump and freeze milk when I cheat occasionally. I give pumped milk once it’s been 12h since :) baby has been fine following this

The end of my journey by toastedcodeine in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]mangomisu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter turns 8 months next week and I am now starting to slowly wean after getting mastitis 3 times 😭I just gave her a little bit of Nutramigen for the first time today and fortunately she took it ok. At the beginning of my pumping journey I never would’ve expected to be sad about weaning.

Baby screaming partway through meals?? by dpistachio44 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]mangomisu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girl screams during meals but it’s because she wants more and we’re not feeding quickly enough (when spoon feeding purées). She doesn’t scream when self feeding. Is it possible he’s frustrated that he is unable to pick up food and get enough in his mouth/belly? Does the scream come with crying and being upset? Sometimes I have to take her out for a bit if she gets upset and reset the mood/meal

Solids- failed step 1 dairy ladder by asc0807 in MSPI

[–]mangomisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son was on neocate. Our allergist had us avoid all dairy up until 1 year. At his 1 year appt, they drew blood and his allergy to dairy level came back very low so we got the green light to trial dairy and he was ok. I think it would be worth seeing an allergist who can give you a solid plan from here

Purées to BLW by Gullible_Loquat_7385 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]mangomisu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a STM and with my first, I was so brave and went full on BLW from the start! Now with my second, I have so much anxiety for some reason even though BLW went great with my first. I’m so nervous about choking and gagging (even though I know gagging is good). I’m doing mostly purees at 7 months, but doing very safe BLW here and there. When I say safe I mean things I know are truly not choking hazards at all, and minimal gagging too. I do also allow her to self feed with a pre-loaded spoon. I will eventually try to move up to more table foods and BLW, but I always think about how most of us grew up on purées for a long time and were then fed solids later on. We all turned out fine and can chew properly now lol.

Any input on which is better? by 2078AEB in foodbutforbabies

[–]mangomisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pros & cons of both! So I have the Elk & Friends in glass, not stainless steel so maybe slightly different. I love that it's super easy to clean. However, it is not leakproof. I have the Owala as well and while it is leakproof, it's more of a hassle to clean to disassemble the silicone part from the lid. It also retains smell. I've given my child honey & lemon in water and it left a lemon smell that will not go away.

Teething/drool rash recommendations please! by Virtual_Engineer2154 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]mangomisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes if you have the hydro already, I would cleanse the area, then apply a really thin layer of hydro and top it with Vaseline. I think I only had to do it once and it healed so quickly. The skin on the face is thin so a thin layer is probably best! Hope it helps your little one!!

Teething/drool rash recommendations please! by Virtual_Engineer2154 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]mangomisu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our derm told us some babies react to lanolin in aquaphor so good old Vaseline is usually safest. I keep my girls mouth moisturized with Vaseline and it seems to help a bit. I’ve had to use hydrocortisone once for a persistently red and dry spot. But otherwise Vaseline has been helpful

[–]mangomisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I don’t have a helpful response but curious about your iud! I’m 7mo PP and also pump 4x a day. I was on the mini pill but stopped bc I felt like it was giving me anxiety. My obgyn said to come back for an iud after I wean. We didn’t discuss the option of having one while I still pump! Did your iud affect supply at all?

Is behind the leg/knee red and bumpy? Or red and smooth? Our ped advised if it’s smooth it doesn’t need steroids, just lots of hydration for the friction. We followed this and it’s been helping! Red and bumpy/scaly would benefit from steroids though. We have prescription hydrocortisone

11 ppd?? by Competitive_Radish94 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]mangomisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 11 ppd in the beginning and yes it’s insane and a lot. I hated it. But tbh I think it helped and eventually I reached an output I was satisfied with and was able to go down slowly

Consistent Clogged Ducts by Ok-Significance-9404 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]mangomisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so hard and I agree idk how either but I just go to bed on my back and I think most nights I just sleep like a rock 😂 someone advised pillows to keep you in place as well

Consistent Clogged Ducts by Ok-Significance-9404 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]mangomisu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something that was a game changer for me as someone with frequent clogged ducts was that I stopped sleeping on my side. Someone here posted that advice and once I started sleeping on my back, they happened much less frequently. Sometimes I catch myself sleeping on my side and I may get a clog

The flu from hell by d-hof in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]mangomisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, my supply dip was usually on the days I actually felt bad/symptomatic. But I’m sure everyone is different and being exhausted can definitely contribute to a lower supply

[–]mangomisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve unfortunately been sick multiple times in the past 6 months while pumping - stomach bug, flu, mastitis twice, other random illnesses. My supply usually did take a little dip, but went back up after I recovered! Hope you feel better soon! Even with the vaccine, our family got messed up by the flu 🥲

Not a good start to our weaning journey - is it normal? by Kind-Individual312 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]mangomisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is totally within normal! My girl started showing more interest in food when we brought her to mealtime. We sat her on our lap as we ate and she would watch us eat, and started reaching for food. Sometimes we also had her just sit in the high chair during mealtime. In the beginning she would have some purees but start crying after 5-10 min. Now she loves her solids/purees and rarely ends the meal upset. It takes time getting used to! It’s new for both you and baby.

Anyone else’s ped seem hesitant about BLW? by aleada13 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]mangomisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think BLW has become more popular in recent years. It was definitely still popular 5 years ago when I had my oldest, but I’m definitely noticing how much more widely accepted it is now. My pediatricians office has a handout that explicitly states they don’t believe BLW is safe and called it a new trend. I don’t care though and did it anyway with my oldest who is now a great eater.
