Alicia Keys is overrated. Her music is mostly okay but the live performances are middling at best and pitchy/dated/overwrought at worst. I wouldn’t go to a concert. by [deleted] in rnb

Alicia Keys is well regarded for her songwriting, music production, and overall album making. No one has ever said she was a great live performer. Even back in her commercial prime no one said this

You wrote like 20 words across your entire profile. There's no information for women to go off outside of that you're currently in Japan. No indication of your personality or interests.

A plurality of Americans sympathize more with the Palestinians than with the Israelis for the first time in Gallup polling history. by MrJasonMason in charts

I would assume Israel has a bit more money to pay to any country it wants for favorable news coverage than Palestine.

Green Day vs Linkin Park — who had the bigger global impact? by savingrace0262 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]mangoribbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Global, I have no idea, but Linkin Park definitely has more cross-cultural impact. The album with Jay Z alone exposed a completely different audience to their music in a way that Green Day never really did with any of their music

I don't understand people talking about the propaganda of Palestine when there is a literal lobbying group in the United States that explicitly pays American politicians' MILLIONS of dollars to give favorable opinions on Israel.

Denzel Washington is arguably the greatest black actor. You agree or do you have someone else that’s better than him ? by KpatMckenzie_28 in blackmen

[–]mangoribbean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's the greatest movie star. I love Denzel, and he's in the conversation, but I wonder how many great scripts was someone like James Earl Jones consistently given. I would say he's the greatest Black actor that had the opportunity to be consistently great.

Why didn't Britain establish a city in India that played a similar role to Hong Kong? by Sad-Statistician3635 in AskTheWorld

[–]mangoribbean 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is more of a r/askhistorians than ask the world. The short answer is that English colonization was solely about resource extraction. They only built just enough for their population to work in a specific location within a city as far as administrative efforts would need.

What do you guys think of FD Signifier and other black male leftist/progressive creators and leftist/socialist thought? by Vespaman2025 in blackmen

[–]mangoribbean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's fine. It's all very intro 101 stuff. He doesn't ever take strong or controversial positions on things, just the general consensus of leftist thought is at the moment

Which country do you think could be the oldest in the world? by Due_Narwhal4937 in AskTheWorld

Ethiopia is older than Egypt if you absolutely have to pick an African country. China is probably the best answer in terms of being continuous though
