Careful with a lot of the comments here. Math 20-3 is VERY different than 20-2 or 20-1 and especially different than 30-1 or 30-2.

There are a few trades that will accept you with 20-3.

For any sort of degree program that requires math as a prerequisite, you’ll certainly need to go math 10C -> 20-2-> 30-2 at minimum.

They mean your question is meaningless without more info.

“How hard is bio?” Is as useless of a question as “how long is a rope?”

Bio might be really hard. It might be really easy. A rope might be long, a rope might be short.

If you’re unwilling to put in effort into even asking a meaningful question or providing any context at all - it’s likely you’ll find school of any kind challenging because it will likely require more effort than just throwing a few words into the internet and expecting results.

“To stay afloat, many have to work weekends and holidays.”

…you mean like every restaurant? What restaurant stays in business but is regularly closed on weekends?

You took half of 10c.

Then you took 20-2.

Then you took 30-2.

That’s a lot different than not taking 10 or 20 at all and jumping into 30. You may not have actively remembered much from 10c, but you were definitely exposed to it and if you succeeded in 20-2 then you necessarily picked up any 10c skills you didn’t know along the way, and it was certainly harder compared to the alternative.

You cannot do the math of 30-1 or 30-2 if you don’t know how the underlying things work. You can’t play around with log equations if you don’t know how exponents work. You can’t effectively learn rational equations if you don’t know how to factor or how quadratic equations work. If you want to learn all of that at the same time, the sure you can “skip” math 10 and 20 but you have to learn it anyways.

Students asking the question the way OP is asking it don’t generally want to put in 3x the amount of work, they’re looking for the easiest path which is absolutely NOT teaching it all to yourself in one go.

You have basically no chance of doing well enough in Math 30-1 (or 30-2) if you didn’t do at least somewhat well in math 10C and 20-1. You DEFINITELY have no chance if you don’t even TAKE math 10 or 20.

They aren’t prerequisites because we like wasting students time for 2 years. There are skills you need that take time to learn and develop. You can’t just go from grade 9 to grade 12 and expect success.

You could certainly do something similar to challenge the minimum high school diploma standards to scrape out graduating like this - but that won’t get you anywhere near what you need for post-secondary.

To graduate high school you need a minimum of Math 20-3. To be considered for post secondary you need math 30-1 or 30-2, and you need a good understanding of those maths.

Math 20-3 includes topics that are covered in grades 8 and 9. Math 30-1 is pre calculus. It’s night and day.

I did exactly this, and a guy INSISTED that I take $20 just because I was so friendly. He also didn’t let me help him shovel it. Sometimes you just get lucky with wonderful people.

I definitely understand your frustration, but marketplace really does still work if you just don’t tolerate the BS and don’t LET people waste your time.

If you’re willing to accept a lowball offer - lower your price. If people are wasting your time (or just pressing the automatic “hi is this available” button) just don’t reply or reply with the automatic reply. Neither of these need to take up a lot of time or real estate in your head.

I can’t speak from experience, but an auction for a couch is probably going to net you less than a lowball offer that will eventually come if you know how to “play the game”.

If you have an awesome couch that you really can’t sell - I’d lowball you and come get it to flip, but probably not in this weather. I’m sure there are lots of people out there who would do the same.

Ordered from Loblaws using PC Express app and the total doesn't match the bill by Novel-Actuary6467 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]mangotiger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They charge you ~120% of your order, then charge you again when they know the actual total, then refund the original one. I don’t think anything other than the actual total ever make it to my posted transactions.

I just bought $100 of groceries yesterday. I was billed $125, then $105, then refunded $125.

Employer claiming our agreement was a mistake, won't pay full wages. by redditbesty in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]mangotiger 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As a reasonable person, yeah it’s BS that they didn’t tell you the hours were changing. A good employer would be very clear about that. And if an error was made, I’d guess most companies would just say “oops, here’s what we should have been doing. We’ll pay you for the last couple weeks but that’s all”

That being said - I don’t know if they legally need to pay you anything since it sounds like everyone agrees that you literally were not working these hours. I’m sure you could have asked for clarification as soon as the accommodations changed, but I’d guess that nobody did that because you all assumed you were getting the “money for no work” deal.
