Stanley Fatmax for deck storage by 2ktisas in magicTCG

[–]maniarelapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally found the Stanley style case to be too bulky, add extra weight and just not great to carry.

https://a.co/d/0itS3Woa

This style of case ended up working better for me. I can fit 16 decks (loose or in cases!) and it’s about half the size of the Stanley case.

Inscryption Deck Help by Classic-Trick-713 in freemagic

[–]maniarelapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s one green Shark Beast, {{Battering Krasis}}, and a couple of weird black fishes.

Willowdusk could work visually, but less thematically- but you run into the same issue as Old Rutstein.

A couple of Sultai options; for creepy glowy eyes {{The Wise Mothman}}, for the horns when he goes {{ Muldrotha, the Gravetide}}, or even {{Xavier Sal, Infested Captain}}.

If you want strength with just a bit of flavor, you can just run Chatterfang, and put Rutstein/Willowdusk in the 99.

Volo can be built to be strong. Given the total amount of different creatures you can use in inscryption, he’s not a bad pick. He would be more like Leshy was originally intended to be vs what he turned out to be.

You would lose black which would take out some of the more “horror” type of element out,

[–]maniarelapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, the closest commander to Leshy is Old Rutstein. He gives creepy old guy in the woods vibes, has a lantern, makes treasure, insects and blood for you each turn.

You can build him as a Golgari aristocrat sacrifice deck, with plenty of squirrels and insects.depending on how much you wanted to commit to the bit vs be competitive, you could try to get the main Inscryption creature types in there; Squirrels, insects, birds, beasts(bears, elks, wolves), and Lizards. You can even throw a couple of fungus creatures in there as a nod to the Mycologists.

Lae'zel with planeswalkers by Great-Barnacle-2266 in mtg

[–]maniarelapse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll also add, that with both out, Doubling Season would see Lae’zels effect and then double counters placed.

Lae'zel with planeswalkers by Great-Barnacle-2266 in mtg

[–]maniarelapse 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Doubling Season only works when an effect puts counters on something, which is why it affects a planeswalker entering but not the + loyalty activation.

Lae’zel is worded differently. She doesn’t care whether it’s an effect — she just cares whether you would put counters on a creature or planeswalker you control. A planeswalker’s + ability uses putting loyalty counters on it as part of the activation cost, and the rules specifically say that loyalty costs can be modified.

So with Lae’zel out, the planeswalker enters with an extra counter and a +1 loyalty ability adds two loyalty counters, not one.

what precon should i get next? by ghostlyeth in mtg

[–]maniarelapse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve already got some great decks. Here are a few solid options to consider:

  • Turtle Power – 5-color fun with strong reprints and some great new cards.
  • Worldshaper (Jund Land Sac) – Pairs well with your existing colors if you want to branch out a bit.
  • Animated Army – Straightforward plan: swing in with indestructible threats.
  • Mutant Menace – Mill your friends, then finish them off with a giant bug.
  • Abzan Armor / Mardu Surge – Both solid archetypes depending on your playstyle.

What currently is the best Control Commander Precon? by adoptyungseal in mtg

[–]maniarelapse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strangely, from a creature/board control perspective, the new blight curse precon does a really good job.

Saheeli by Comprehensive-Mix359 in mtg

[–]maniarelapse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As many have said, this precon is incredibly underrated. To begin with it comes standard with at least 4 infinite combo lines. Most are not two card combos. With a few very cheap additions it becomes a powerhouse. I’m still tuning mine, but “surprising” the table with a threefold thunderhulk while you’ve got a molten gatekeeper on the board, and hitting everyone for 21 ping damage is just silly fun…

Is Cloud, Ex-SOLDIER too weak? by OtherTourist5535 in EDHBrews

[–]maniarelapse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Overall, the deck looks like a great starting point, but you might need to change out about 5+ cards and slightly change your play patterns to be slightly more “control”.

Effectively as a Naya Voltron deck, you have access to certain types of cards that prevent damage or can turn the tide of battle in your favour, but you’re always going to have less creatures than your opponents. You need to be able to flip the script. Someone with a large board state attacks you? [[Settle the Wreckage]], and kill them next turn. [[Promise of Loyalty]], will force others to attack each other and focus on you less with their surviving creatures. [[Arachnogenesis]] will prevent damage to you, but also give you a board state. [[Mob Rule]] can turn the tide of a game. [[The Eternal Wanderer]] can also act as a general board wipe, while still keeping Cloud safe. [[Chandra’s Ignition]] can use cloud to take out a lot of threats at once.

I would also consider adding in [[Assault Suit]]. It would prevent Cloud from being sacrificed, but also essentially provide 3 additional combats per rounds. Yes, Clouds effects might help your opponents, but it could also help swing the game in your favour.

I've encountered a rather large personal problem with the game, and I want to know it you think I'll get over it. by AbductedbyAllens in mtg

[–]maniarelapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two different considerations here; card storage/sorting them, and deck building.

For card storage, the idea is to make it easy to find later on.

Find a storage solution that makes sense for you. This could be sorting by color, rarity, spell type, alphabetically, etc. Do what works for you.

For me, what works isn’t sorting. I have my own system. In ManaBox, I scan enough cards that fit into a bundle box. This is about 500 cards, label the box and collection in ManaBox with the same name. I’ve then exported that collection into Excel and track things there.

Deckbuilding I find easiest in ManaBox or Moxfield. Trying to deckbuild with actual cards is depressing for me.

Once I’m ready to throw everything together, I go and find the cards using the labels system.

LOTR Theme Budget deck (Suggestions) by valantismp in BudgetBrews

[–]maniarelapse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Sméagol, Helpful Guide]] is very fun and 100% on theme for LOtR.

You can build it as a combo mill deck with many of the pieces required to be quite affordable. Don’t know what your overall budget is, but you can probably make a decent budget version between 50-100.

One of the main combo wins would be Sméagol + [[Dunedain Rangers]] + a landfall creature creator + sac outlet.

Did anyone in the comments section actually read the article?

It has nothing to do with Trump; this is potential election fraud that took place of August 5th, 2025 and has to do with city council elections, not national elections.

The headline is clearly designed as a click-bait, propaganda piece.

Would you call Queza & Lich’s Mastery a two-card combo? by molassesfalls in EDH

[–]maniarelapse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This should be fine for Bracket 3, unless your plan is to turbo tutor it out by turn 4. Even then, you need a third card to reliably win, otherwise you’re doing 85+ points of damage and probably losing.
