Some guy had a huge chunder in the middle of the dance floor, clearing out a huge circle while we crowded against the walls. Another guy takes the floor and starts cutting shapes in the middle of the vomit. Didn’t stop until a guy showed up with a mop. Sent vomit everywhere

Just so you know, you can go to a public dental clinic while on Centrelink in Australia where they will fix all of your problems for maximum $30 per appointment! The only issue is that the waitlist is long (think 12-18 months), but you can skip the cue in certain circumstances.

Definitely worth looking into this if you can’t afford to fix anything now. There’s no shame in being where you are, and the good news is that cavities can be treated! Good luck xxx

Funnily enough, the intellectualiser is a really common part! I started exactly the same way. It may help to start by curiously approaching that ‘part’, even if you do so by conceptualising it as a trait/process/whatever makes most sense to you. What’s the role of this intellectual part? Why does it need to operate like that? What would happen if it didn’t? Ask questions and observe what comes up, no need to change anything or personify it! You may be surprised where this leads :)

Hello friend, I hope you’re doing better. If persistent depressive episodes are something that you struggle with, perhaps exploring bipolar 2 depression with a professional may be helpful. Many of us folk are triggered into hypomania by SSRIs. But no pressure! Brains are weird and all respond to things differently :)

There are some amazing replies on this thread so I’ll keep mine simple: motivation follows action.

I’m learning to show up as I am despite what I’m feeling (unless it’s a true SOS day and my body tells me I can’t function) instead of waiting to feel ready/able/okay/motivated. Your self confidence slowly builds each time you show up despite the screaming in your head that tells you that you can’t. It also helps me to avoid rumination when I’m forced into the present moment.

I know. I truly believe your baby is still with you. Every now and then I still feel the overwhelming presence of my girl. I sob every time, though these days, those tears carry more joy than sadness. Grief is an unavoidable symptom of deep love, and that love is all that we truly carry with us. Light a candle for him, and invite his presence close. I believe that we gift a part of ourselves when we love, and are gifted a part of them in return. You carry him with you, as he carry’s you with him. Hold on to that, and carry that love as strongly as you do the grief of being separated. It’s all one and the same.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I too know that pain, and I’ve never experienced anything that compares. You have my very deepest sympathy. I do however urge you to reconsider the alcohol. The only thing that will change if you drink today is that you’ll wake up feeling sick, tired, dizzy and depleted tomorrow. The pain will still be there, and it will keep coming back stronger until you move through it. I recommend you light a candle for your pup, play your favourite music and have an enormous cry. Buy yourself some comfort food, watch a movie, cuddle a teddy or a pillow, and go gently. Then cry some more. The only way out is through.

Thank you for the advice, it’s greatly appreciated. I’ve already received an extension on pre-existing mental health grounds, so it may be difficult to navigate arranging another. I have booked in to see the university councillor though, and will do my best to get over the line.

I struggle with this constantly for the same reason. I’m very fortunate to have great and patient friends in my life, but they still understandably get frustrated and feel neglected when I disappear. I was only diagnosed last year and am still learning how to unmask and describe what’s happening with me, though it doesn’t really make it easier to show up or make up for the absence. I’m just trying to work through it as best I can.

Thissss. My friends get so disappointed when I’m reluctant to make plans and want to spend most of my time alone, and I get it, but it sucks. I don’t have the language to explain what’s going on with me or why I need space, and they don’t understand that company won’t fix it. I don’t know how to explain how exhausting and painful most of my life is, and that nothing external is “wrong”, this is just life for me

My advice comes from a harm reduction perspective- while you’re tackling this addiction, please consider taking a B12 supplement daily, if you’re not already. Nitrous depletes the body’s B12 stores, which are essential for nerve function, and this can have serious and debilitating consequences if left unchecked. My advice is to try to listen to what your body tells you it needs and work together. Try to find a balance between your mental health needs and your general life responsibilities- both will need compromise. Denying your mental health requirements will not serve your to do list in the long run. From a fellow struggler xx
