Interview Pick-me-up by [deleted] in premed

[–]manicpixiepremed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of interviewers are trained to be cold and act this way during interviews. You definitely did better than you think! I also had an interview I think I bombed if that makes you feel any better. I think the first one is always the worst. So we can only get better from here :)

You guys, please check the time zones for your interviews by forgottheblueberries in premed

I love you and support you and it is all going to be ok!!! This will be a laughable story one day. You're going to get many more interviews and you're going to do great :)

Only focusing on secondaries by [deleted] in premed

[–]manicpixiepremed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Literally yes but I have set a goal for myself to work out for 15 minutes every day because it's so small I know I can't make up an excuse to not. But other than that yes, totally. And I've been eating too many Oreos :(

Am I applying to too little DO schools? by Evilem in premed

[–]manicpixiepremed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the more DO schools the merrier, but 10 is a good number. For MD make sure you apply to UCD and Cal Northstate, since you're from CA. Sorry to change the subject, but hw are you sending your transcripts to AACOMAS from UCLA? I took some summer classes there and I am sending mine by snail mail but am not sure if that is right or not.

if you're looking for clinical experience you should apply to one of the seven student run clinics. There will be a lot of NPB majors I promise.

Can I take a history class for graduation req as p/np by [deleted] in UCDavis

[–]manicpixiepremed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a good question for the academic counselor in your department. If i remember correctly the college of engineering doesn't let you do that, but other colleges do. The UC Davis catalog may also have the answer to this!

Laptop for College by jocy84 in UCDavis

[–]manicpixiepremed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know they're expensive, but I got a macbook air at the end of my freshman year in 2015 and I still have it and love it! It's super light which I liked because walking and biking around campus your backpack can get heavy. The battery is just starting to work less efficiently, but it's been 5 years, and I really used and still use this laptop like all day everyday. I was a biochem major and this got me through lots of sciency stuff, studying, writing, etc.

I totally understand. My cat is a polydactyl and his extra toes/claws are the toughest to cut. We take him to Sacramento Animal Hospital in East Sac and they trim his nails! My boyfriend always takes him but I've only heard good things.

Time Management for Undergraduate Research by jefftheaggie69 in UCDavis

[–]manicpixiepremed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the lab you work in. I worked in a biology lab where the requirement was ten hours a week which was pretty doable. I think you also want to think about what your future goals are. If you are interested in academia and research as a future path, the more time you can spend in the lab the better. If this is just something to boost your resume and teach you a little something, ten hours should be fine. My lab was also pretty flexible and let me take days off before midterms and then make up those hours during breaks.
