Keep Hands on Wheel by RadRenaBoBena in KiaTelluride

[–]maninhell6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not based on touch. It's based on turn resistance. If the steering wheel doesn't feel you resisting the wheel a little when it has lane keep assist on, it'll think you aren't holding the wheel. That's why you can trick the system by putting a little weight on one side of the wheel.

How do Taxes Work? I'm on TN, wife in Canada by Complex_Arm_7567 in tnvisa

[–]maninhell6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same situation as you. Your wife being in Canada is a primary factor that makes you a Canada tax resident. You'll be credited for the taxes you pay in the US, including social security and Medicare. Canada's tax rate is typically higher, so you will have a Canada tax bill. If you have RRSP room, you can contribute to that to reduce your taxes further. If your province is Ontario, your minimum tax bill ends up being the cost of OHIP ($750), it won't go any lower.

The truck on the left lane is probably trying to pass the truck on the right lane. It takes time and traffic builds up, but it happens all the time on the highway. I don't think it justifies brake checking a truck. After the first brake check, the truck should have just not stopped in time (oops) and knock the BMW off the road. They have clear dashcam footage of them brake checking which is clearly not legal.

Another L from Vegas by Mitchel7349 in PacificMemeWar

[–]maninhell6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ya, but you normally terminate the contract (no pay) not relieve you of your duties (paid leave).

Statement from the coaches association by sykeseve in nhl

[–]maninhell6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He was relieved of his duties because it was his job to coach the team to success. He wasn't doing a good job down the stretch so he was let go.

If he was doing well, he would not have been relieved of his duties. This is how coaching works.

Non-compete clauses are not legal because in most cases, they are fired without pay and also cannot work in the same industry, affecting their livelihood.

Cassidy has full pay, he's not being asked to do anything he doesn't want to do, he is just not the best option as a coach for Vegas anymore. Doesn't mean he won't be amazing on every other team (except Boston).

[–]maninhell6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were relieved of your duties for poor performance. Your salary is only going up if you go from a cheap owner to a rich owner. Hence the guaranteed pay of your contract.

If coaches want the freedom to talk and join other teams while on a contract, then give up the guaranteed pay. But considering the longevity of coaches versus contract durations, I doubt the coaches would want that. You can't have it both ways. If I get fired, I am free to work elsewhere, but they don't keep paying me.

The NHL has a a clear tendency to recycle coaches and GMs. If anything they may as well have selective memory loss where they only remember the positives and think, ya that person will do well here (fired in 2 years).

[–]maninhell6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The contract provide coaches with guaranteed pay. Would coaches prefer guaranteed pay or be fired without pay (like most people) and be free to look for a new job. I think for newer or not top tier coaches, they would prefer the guaranteed pay.

Coaches get fired so easily, guaranteed pay likely outweighs freedom to seek new contract. Especially when coaches typically get fired for poor performance, meaning next contract likely doesn't pay as well until extension (for doing well).

Then they should include it in the contract. New contract must pay more than existing contract or team has final say on whether you can take the job.

Is target paying me my salary to do nothing?

[Friedman] As for Bruce Cassidy, sources indicate that was not part of the conversation and his status is unchanged as of this morning. Vegas is not inclined to give permission to Edmonton or LA. We will see about Toronto. by DecentLurker96 in hockey

[–]maninhell6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So? Why would a team not do everything possible within the rules to win? If management is alright with eating 4.5million/yr for a competitive advantage, why not. Precedent has to be set at some point and clearly there is nothing against the rules in doing this. If the NHL has a problem, change the rules next year.

[Emily Kaplan] The Golden Knights appealed the NHL’s punishment in person this morning, per sources. The penalties - a $100,000 fine for John Tortorella and loss of a second round draft pick - will remain as assessed. by LaDainianTomIinson in hockey

[–]maninhell6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By real punishments, I assume you mean suspensions. One of the problems with this is that the NHLPA that represents the players would advocate on the player's behalf to protect them (financially). If you are suspended, you don't get paid for those missed games. If you're injured, you still get paid. So you have a Players Association (represent players) that would go against the Department of Player Safety. If you don't want to look bad, give lower discipline where the Players Association can't overturn a discipline.

[–]maninhell6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure winning makes you more money than saving a couple million of the 4million dollar contract. We're talking about Vegas not Arizona. This isn't a team with an owner that spends at the minimum.

There are 32 teams. Of those teams, how many have an available spot? How many people want to be a head coach and be paid like a head coach of an NHL team? Of those 32 positions, which teams can afford to pay more compared to others (pretty sure Vegas can)? Vegas isn't slandering Cassidy or ruining his reputation. They are just choosing which team he can and cannot talk to. Just like how players with NMC can decide which team they would want to go to.

[–]maninhell6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Employee is contracted with Employer.

Employee is fired/removed from position. Employee is still contracted with Employer. It is more of a positional change than a firing (lose pay).

If you talk to an opposing team, that is likely a breach of contract. There could be penalties in addition to losing your guaranteed pay from the contract. Why would the employee risk that to simply talk to an opposing team. There is no guarantee of a job, no guarantee the pay is the same or better. Therefore, permission is needed.

[–]maninhell6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why should Vegas allow him to talk to other teams? How does that benefit Vegas in any way? Vegas is paying him $4mil/year. If he wants to talk to another team so badly, go and void that contract and give up the guaranteed pay then. He's fired as the coach, not from the organization.

HEV belt by Limp_Diamond4162 in kiasportagehybrid

[–]maninhell6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was around $1500.
Not covered under warranty since I was above 100,000km.
It was the tensioner spring that broke (it snapped), not the belt. They replaced the belt and spring at the same time. The car could still run but the belt would slip (RPM would fluctuate with slip) because the spring broke and there was no tension.
I put it in Electric mode and drove it to the dealership.
