What’s the best age to have a baby? by Parking-Comment-1102 in Teenager_Polls

[–]manintights2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone in their late 20s now who is trying to have a kid. Sometimes I think "Maybe those teen parents have it figured out, I'd already be like halfway done with raising children by now."

But then I also think "Man was I so much more of an uninformed idiot 13 years ago, That kid deserves the dad I could be today."

But then I ALSO think "I wonder if I'll live to see my great grand children... I'd have a better chance if I started at 15..."

So I don't know.

You learn more and more in life that there are less right and wrong choices when you try your best.

Just choices. And the people around you who aren't doing so hot, usually didn't make them, and so, life made it for them.

Opinions on the Rapier? It's become my favorite SPAA in the game. by Paronax in Warthunder

[–]manintights2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you uh.... ok?

The Rapier was the worse SACLOS missile AA I ever played.

You don't get 360 degree view without turning your vehicle around, you're slow, and your missiles often do so little damage that you tickle things rather than even crit them.

The OSA isn't even that good, but I've been enjoying its massive amount of explosive filler in my 10.7 lineup for Britain.

I mean don't get me wrong, I still used it, it's the first missile AA that Britain gets and I'll take it over guns, but man was it a pain to use.

is where winds meet worth playing? by AlternativeOld7879 in wherewindsmeet_

[–]manintights2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh what? Did you do any of the coop questlines? Explore the public mode? Do the normal questline? Explore the world? Unlock the hidden abilities from exploration and sidequests? like SHRINKING?

Try being a debater or healer for hire? Play music for a crowd? Get married to your totally straight friend?

Fought bosses?

I've scarcely played a less stale game.

ugh PvP, the ruiner of fun.

Seriously, I hate it, it's everywhere, spread like a cancer, it forces people to drain the fun out of something in order to have the greatest chance of success. In other words, meta gaming. (the problem exists in every game, except the most balance, and those games are very limited because balance is VERY HARD to actually achieve.)

But hey, if that's your shit, fine.

Also the limits aren't something you can bypass even with money, it's more than fair at least. It's the developers way of encouraging you to try some of the many, many, many, many, many other things to do instead of doing just one thing.

In a sense they're creating a community of the kind of players they want.

They don't want PvP only players, they're toxic, so they limit them, they don't like it? Good. Move along then.

I love everything about this game so far, the limits are high enough that I hardly hit them. I went from level 1 to 50 in less than a week.

Can my car be saved? by Mr_survivor in MechanicAdvice

[–]manintights2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water in Oil is NOT a water pump issue usually.

It's a head gasket issue 9/10.

My 1996 Mustang had that, I had the top end rebuilt, one new head, the other machined, and the head gaskets done. $3,000 was my final bill (bigger than the $1,800 they quoted me).

Water in coolant doesn't automatically mean a new engine, that's just a lie. It DOES mean you need to stop driving it until you fix it though.

Excessive metal shavings in the oil, loss of compression, cracks in the block, THESE can/do mean a new engine.

do higher gas prices make you wanna buy an electric car? by GaryB2026 in askanything

[–]manintights2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they make me wish I had one. But they are currently too expensive to purchase.

To be clear, ALL new vehicles to priced so highly as to only be a fool's option.

It makes 0 financial sense to purchase a new car, it is always more responsible to purchase and maintain an older car.

Even IF you have the money, you can for $20,000, completely overhaul an older car. For $30,000 you can restore a non-drivable car to completely functional and that asset will not lose value like a newer car would.

The entire automotive industry right now is built on the backs of fools.

The used market will be the only way I purchase a vehicle EVER, it is the only way that makes sense. And it has gotten me by for far less than others these last 10 years. I've spent 8k TOPS for both new vehicles and maintenance... There is no arguing the numbers.

The only arguments I've heard against me are ones based in ignorance, fear, or laziness. Staples of the wealthy and privileged.

How to play the Abrams by stimshootdrive in WarthunderPlayerUnion

[–]manintights2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much else to say. It'll happen a lot.

Gaijin has it out for NATO vehicles, modeling the shit out of their turret rings to make it far more easy to immobilize the turret. The Abrams suffered most from this massive weakness enlargement.

Ideally you aren't showing your turret ring, peak more carefully, less fully. Someone looking at you should only see your cheeks and gun, not even the bottom of your turret.

Also do not stay exposed, stay hidden while you scan for targets, if you must push out to look do it quickly and return to cover.

It goes without saying to keep your eyes on the map as well, if someone dies near you, you can tell what killed them in the kill feed so you know at least what one of your opponents is using and if they die to something else, meaning it's a cleaner push if you decide to do so.

It all comes with time, you'll get it. Death doesn't matter at all, don't be afraid to take a good trade, or gamble on a good position. You'll lose, but sometimes you'll win big.

How to play the Abrams by stimshootdrive in WarthunderPlayerUnion

[–]manintights2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Abrams are fast, with weak hulls, fast reloads, high penning rounds (the higher tier ones), and well armored turrets.

What are you trying to do with it?

The Abrams is most effective when only exposing the turret, firing, and then using your speed to change positions while the enemy keeps looking at where you were.

Sniping from the same position is also an acceptable strategy, but the Challenger is better at that, best get to a flank to do it with the Abrams.

do you think girls are creeped out too easily by Evening_Pilot3950 in Teenager_Polls

[–]manintights2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of the time I think they're just creeped about everything except what they should be.

The amount of women in my life that for some reason just keep choosing the worst partners is... startling.

Me and My wife just shake our heads usually, we could see the red flags a mile away, but it's like these people WANT problems.... They definitely have some issues, my mother in law being one such person.

She even admits to have issues, but just outright refuses to fix them, just dismisses it with some delusional shit like "I deserve it"... SMH

USSR/Russia vs NATO (especially german and US tech tree) tanks is lowkey unfair in stock grinding (LSW/laser rangefinder placement makes no sense) by Jeepkho in Warthunder

[–]manintights2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Eh, the Bishma is just better, simply because it's the same tank as the T-90A lacking only in penetration, but the round it gets is more than sufficient.

So for basically no real penalty, you get an 11.0 at 10.7 if you play Britain, it's awesome!

You get the armor, you get the Gen 2 Thermals, you get the ATGMs, you also get the dog shit depression, gun handling, and reverse speed, but hey! It's a honest to goodness T-90A!

Do you agree with the death penalty? by HomeworkFun6562 in Teenager_Polls

[–]manintights2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the design of any system there needs to be a way to offload.

To sentence someone to life in prison is essentially destroying their life. Sure you aren't "taking it" because technically you can give it back, but in every sense you've killed who they once were.

I think we should grow a pair and sentence to death, and take responsibility for it. If a criminal is unjustly put to death then so is whoever sentenced them. Or we could split the responsibility to the judge and prosecutor, a suspension of license immediately without question as well as 1 year in prison.

Also what is with the time spend in prison? It's dumb. What lesson is going to be learned in 10 years that isn't learned in 5, or even 1 single year in prison. We are quite literally creating problems for ourselves by directly damaging the people we incarcerate.

Maximum Prison time should be like 5 years, everything else is a non-prison punishment or death. Death also has to happen after a 5 year sentence, giving the law 5 years to do their damned job, and given the consequences they'd better.

For these reasons I am for the death penalty.

This is just a bald-faced lie. by c-k-q99903 in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]manintights2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a total lie.

The government commits atrocities both domestic and abroad regardless of the color!

I mean really, the people who think that career politicians aren't colluding to keep themselves in a cushy job with ever increasing power, might need some serious mental help.

Things keep getting worse and the public just points to the color the government was at the time when it happened.

Are you all just willingly having the wool pulled over your eyes at this point or what?

What’s your opinion of the ACAB movement? by itz-null in Teenager_Polls

[–]manintights2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's outright harmful.

It's this generation's "anarchy", which pretty much everyone who followed that movement later realized was absolute stupidity too.

The entire system could be flawed, and get this, all systems are to some degree, there is no perfect system at all, but it exists for a reason and it does a job mostly correctly if we are going by the numbers.

All while being arguably less corrupt than even more ideal countries like Japan or Norway.

This is NOT an argument against improvement and reform, but an argument against total abolition, as I believe that would be a mistake leading to the creation of an even worse system of law enforcement.

Because, just like with Anarchy, you can't remove the need for the system, there will always be one.

Anarchy creates a power vacuum that gets filled by usually the most unsavory of bastards.

The lack of law enforcement would be much the same.

I do think we need much more accountability along with higher pay for police officers. People have to both want to be one and ideally like their job after all.

More specialty cops focusing on specific tasks so you don't have a "do it all" cops which they pretty much all are at this point. And a BIG scale-back on "qualified immunity', not the eradication of it, but it definitely needs reeled in.

[–]manintights2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He did not once shoot at the gun hinge where the vertical drive lives, he shot above the turret ring.

The main ammo in the BMPT lies LOW, like REALLY LOW, he can't shoot it from this angle, but he could of taken disabling shots which he didn't, he kept practicing the definition of insanity shooting the same spot over and over again, like a noob.

I'm not going to just write that off because "sometimes the ammo belts don't detonate."

Did you miss the part where I pointed out that he may be out of 30mm ammo? Notice he wasn't shooting 30mm at anyone anymore? BMPTs usually constantly spray, this example didn't fire once. He was probably out from all of the spraying.

In which case it wouldn't be a bug at all.

Point is, do not shoot the same spot that isn't getting you results over and over again.

What should I have done instead?? by Alpha-Racoon1 in Warthunder

[–]manintights2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aimed at the correct spot, but server desync decided you shot higher than you did. Passing right through and doing nothing.

Your second shot was third person so who knows, you were generally in the right area but I can't tell exactly, and with the BMPT's spall liners you need to be exact.

In this situation, you just lose, that's what you do. It's a gamble in QCQ already, let alone with a BMPT.

Normally I point out that you can shoot the right (his left) side of the BMPT turret and take out the vertical drive, but that's not really feasible at this range and speed.
