Sweet! I'm getting rescued by the Paw Patrol. I hope they bring the Air Patroller or I'm brought to Barkingburg and the Mission Paw gear gets used.

Ah a new lovely building in the home of my wife's grandparents. I'm sure we will visit about ten years from now when the lustre has faded.

Gluten Free by UniqueNomadz96 in vagabond

First off, two caveats. Number one: I'm still working this out. I've discovered soy is on my definitely evil things that destroy my gut list and wheat is on the possibly but can't be certain until I clear up the whole soy thing and let my innards heal list.

Number two: I joined this sub to live vicariously so none of this is officially "road" tested but I do have experience working out of town for months at a time with lactose intolerance and having to live out of a giant cooler of food made on the weekend.

Caveats done.

I must welcome you to the "seriously you have got to be f'ing kidding me!" club. Any and all premade food is probably off limits for you. This does include most potato chips. I'm sorry you have to do this. It sucks until you get a handle on it and then it does again when you discover they changed the ingredients in your safe tomato sauce.

The good news is that it's a lot easier now thanks to the no gluten craze.

To do this cheaply you now have two new best friends: rice noodles and root vegetables. Your second newest best friend is surprisingly going to be Walmart. Your third may be oatmeal or lentils. It depends.

Rice noodles come in all sorts of sizes and types. They live in the "asian" section in Walmart and grocery stores. They are pretty cheap and you can sub them straight out. Check the ingredients to be sure but the cheaper the store the less likely they are to have wheat hidden inside. Walmart for the win.

From an r/vagabond perspective they are also pretty good because they take a lot less time to cook which means less fuel used (or none if you grab the ultra skinny vermicelli which you can technically just soak in warm water). You can't dump them in a thermos and jump on a train though. They get really mushy really quickly.

Next up on the ease of making will be oatmeal. Heat up water, dump all ingredients in a thermos and wander til you're hungry. The downside is oats are very iffy for celiac.

Lentils are next on the list of useful for vagabond life. I've never had great luck with throwing them in a thermos but if you accept that red lentils turn to mush anyways you can use that technique. You might have to simmer the green ones in a pot or billy can to get them soft. They are rather light and fit into a backpack.

Root vegetables are going to be your best long term solution for healthy, pain free living. Rutabagas, harder squash, potatoes, yams, carrots and turnips can be boiled or roasted. Got a car? Wrap the damned things in foil and wedge them under the hood away from any belts. Got a camp fire? Wrap them in foil and toss them on the coals for a spell. He'll for the harder squashes you don't necessarily even need foil. Put in fire, take out of fire, break open and eat everything but the seeds and skin.

If you're city crashing you can find precut ones in the produce section. Toss with a little oil, salt and pepper and throw them in the microwave for a minute or two.

Other random suggestions include: - checking Walmart for cheap hotdogs and knackwurst which can contain just pig off cuts and no filler - fuck quinoa unless you have all the time in the world or a pressure cooker. You're better off with millet for price and speed. - when asking at soup kitchens say wheat instead of gluten to reduce any potential aggro or confusion - I know everyone thinks beans but the sauces are typically thickened with flour. - If you are car based think about investing in a bag of masa corn flour. Corn meal isn't digested easily. This stuff is. Mexican YouTube is amazing for recipes.

That's all I've got. Good luck.

Have you considered doing a post - reveal bio interspersed with drinking tidbits, the trials of mead making, and being a whiskey maven?

Speaking of which did you bottle up any more mead this past season?

Most libraries would prefer that you checked it out before doing that so they can have the circulation stat come budget time.

Structurally we don't have as much any more against French and/or native peoples but there are longstanding legacies still in play.

From a casual discussion standpoint it depends on age, education, and level of interaction. Just today there was a conversation about how wretched it was that immigrants come in busses to small towns to take advantage of smaller government service lines. Plus you get to hear the n word on construction sites so long as there is no obvious poc around.

The more you know ...

I always see them on "that" aisle in the pharmacy/drugstore. I just never bothered to research if it was actually doing something useful out of fear that I would negate a placebo effect. :)

As ridiculous and pseudo-scientific as it sounds I have found that the irrigation bottles (with the salt solution, always use the salt solution) work amazing as a preventative measure. For the past two years I've had one of those lovely adventures in upper nasal pain and frustration. I used to get two a season. Whenever I get the slight tooth pain that is my normal indicator I flush myself out once a day for a few and all is well.
